Taking a gamble, he put an ad in the yellow pages. Wanting to be listed first, he came up with the name Adee Plumbing. Soon, Stephan had all the work he could handle.

Today, Adee Plumbing is owned and operated by Jack Stephan, Jr. The company still offers plumbing service, heating repair and installation, as well as air duct cleaning, and air conditioning service and installation. In the 1960’s and 70’s, the company ran a popular commercial which asked “Who knows what lurks in your plumbing system? (the answer) Adee Do!” This commercial became so well known that many people thought the name of the company was Adee Do.

Corporate offices are still located in Los Angeles, California. Adee Plumbing has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, as well as a 4.5 star rating on Yelp.

Minted operates an online marketplace of independent artists and designers who sell their products on the website.

The company began by offering stationery and invitations, but by 2012 was offering wall prints, party decor, and pillowcases. More than $90 million has been raised via Crowd Sourcing for expansion of the company, which operates in 60 countries and all 50 states.  In 2008, the company began a program called “Design Challenge”, where artists submit their work for a particular project, participants vote, and the winner’s products are sold online.

Apps like Letgo and OfferUp are direct competition to the cash positive Craigslist.
