Vipin Porwal found that it was difficult to keep up with all the coupons, promo codes, and cashback offers he received in the newspapers, mailers, and online. He felt that there must be an easier way to handle coupons and other offers other than carrying printed emails and a wallet just for coupons.
JoinSmarty was founded in 2019. Originally working only for Macy’s department stores, JoinSmarty now works with nearly all major department stores, pharmacies, drug stores, grocery stores, and other retailers.
JoinSmarty also does comparison shopping and alerts you if a lower price is found elsewhere on an item that you purchased within the last 30 days since many retailers will honor the lower price.
The company recently introduced a subscription-based service called SmartyPlus. This service not only offers everything JoinSmarty does, but it also offers free delivery, doubles the cash-back offered by many stores or credit cards, as well as automates and simplifies the process of obtaining credits from Amazon if packages are delayed.
The Better Business Bureau shows Smarty only has 1.5 stars but it is approved by the BBB with a B+ rating at this time.
