HomeAdvisor was founded in 1998 by Rodney Rice and Michael Beaudoin, the same friends who founded Einstein Brothers Bagels. The company, originally named ServiceMagic, is an online marketplace that connects homeowners with prescreened, local service professionals to complete home improvement, maintenance and remodeling projects. The company name was changed to HomeAdvisor in October of 2012.

By early 2015, the company had achieved more than $300 million in annual revenue, was used by more than 30 million homeowners, had nearly 100,000 pre-screened service professionals in its network and almost 3 million verified reviews. This same year, the company offered a service called “Instant Booking” where homeowners could make appointments directly with service professionals. Later, the company allowed this same appointment service to used via Facebook.

History

In 2016, the company acquired the German home services company, MyHammer.

In 2017, HomeAdvisor acquired Canada’s leading home services company, HomeStars, and MyBuilder, the UK’s leading home services platform connecting homeowners and tradesmen.

In October of 2017, the company announced that their parent company, IAC, had also acquired Angie’s List and that these two companies would be combined to make one larger company, called ANGI Homeservices, Inc.

This new corporation will be the largest digital marketplace for home services in the world.

Currently, the corporate office for HomeAdvisor is still located in Golden, Colorado. A spokesperson for the company has not said if they plan to move or to incorporate both corporate offices for HomeAdvisor and Angie’s List.

Okeechobee Steak House Corporate Office

In October of 1947, Ralph and Norma Lewis opened The Okeechobee Drive-In. Passed on to their son, Curtis Lewis and his wife Jeannie, and now known as The Okeechobee Steakhouse.

Curtis Lewis removed the “drive-through” and added a larger seating area, a new full-service bar, and renovated the remainder of the restaurant, thus making the restaurant a more upscale dining experience.

History

Lewis states that he has an old secret family recipe when it comes to aging and cooking his steaks.

While steaks are the focus of the company, they also serve seafood, soups, salads, chicken, lobster, escargot, as well as an extensive wine menu. Desserts are also a favorite item here, with many customers opting for coffee and a piece of coconut cream pie.

Some might call this restaurant “retro” but Lewis prefers to think of it as “classic”. The company recently began offering a catering operation in the new 7,000 square foot facility on the grounds of the original restaurant. This new idea came courtesy of third generation member Ralph Lewis.

CEO Lewis states that any given time, the company can have as much as $200,000 worth of meat in dry storage. The new catering building has two kitchens, as well as a tasting room. The new catering operations will serve an area stretching 90 miles in radius around the restaurant.

Okeechobee Steakhouse has an average of 4.6 out of a possible 5-stars on most review sites, including OpenTable, Yelp, and Google. Headquarters for the company remain in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Club Monaco has it’s beginnings in Ontario, Canada. Business partners Joe Mimran, Saul Mimran and Alfred Sung opened their first store on Queen Street West in 1985. That location is still in existence today. There is a cafe below the sales floor, allowing customers to take a coffee break while shopping, which was a unique idea at the time.

The company’s first store in the USA was opened in 1989 in the beach town of Santa Monica, California, where it quickly became popular. In 1999, Ralph Lauren acquired the company, where it still operates as a subsidiary.

Club Monaco has transitioned itself into an international lifestyle brand that offers what it calls “affordable luxury with a modern sensibility. Each location has its own concept, as well as clothing style and design. In addition to their own brand of clothing, the company carries upscale, third-party accessories, such as Ray-Ban sunglasses, Mackage Leather, and Citizen of Humanity brand jeans. Other upscale clothing items include Chanel and Hermes. Since 2007, Luxottica began selling sunglasses and prescription sunglasses through the Club Monaco brand.

Beginning in August of 2013, the company launched their first footwear line consisting of all leather flats and heels made in Italy. Later that same month, the company also introduced a higher-end label simply titled ‘Collection’.

The company relies heavily on social media accounts for marketing, using sites such as Pinterest, Facebook, and Tumblr to present its “lookbooks” or “inspirations” which can also be viewed on their website through their “Culture Club” page.

Headquarters are located in the Starrett-Lehigh building in New York, New York.

Houston’s Restaurant was founded in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1976 by current CEO George Biel and two partners. Over the years, Biel’s partners sold their interests in the company back to Biel.

The corporate company, Hillstone Restaurant Group, was founded in 1976 and owns the following restaurants: Gulfstream, Bandera, Rutherford Grill, Palm Beach Grill, Cherry Creek Grill, Los Altos Grill, Woodmont Grill, R+D, Hillstone, Honor Bar, South Beverly Grill, East Hampton Grill, White House Tavern, and Houston’s.

History

As of 2017, Houston’s Restaurant has 51 locations in 13 states. Houston’s Restaurant is a casual American food type restaurant, whose specialty is steaks and seafood.

Since 2009, the company has been changing the name of some locations to the corporate name of Hillstone. The company has provided no explanation for this, however, there has been speculation that the change was made to avoid federal menu-labeling requirements on menus for restaurants with 20 locations or more as a part of the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obama Care. Zagat, a national restaurant review company, gave the restaurant high marks and remarked on its ‘”vibrant”, “modern” setting matched with a “lively bar scene. The company also has overall ratings of 4.5 out of 5-stars on Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Google review sites.

Houston Restaurant Week is designed to help local foodbanks. Houston’s Restaurants, “Take Out and Do Good” will offer take out and delivery meals August 1st, 2021 through September 6th, 2021. One dollar from each meal order wil be donated to various food banks in the greater Houston, Texas, area.

History

In 2008, the company merged with competitor Misys. In 2010, Allscripts-Misys merged with Eclypsys.

In 2012, founder and CEO Glen Tullman stepped down from his position and left the company. Paul Black took over as CEO of this continually growing company.

In March of 2013, Allscripts acquired dbMotion, a supplier of community health solutions and Jardogs LLC, a patient engagement solution provider.

Allscripts is set to pay nearly $9.75 million to the proposed class to settle claims of securities fraud after the company allegedly overstated its ability to integrate its Microsoft.NET and SQL Server with those of Eclipsys following their $1.3 billion merger.
