Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth was founded in 1856, originally as a hotel called The Exchange. It was sold several times over the years, until it landed in the hands of the William Zehnder in 1927. He remodeled the hotel to look like Mount Vernon. After World War II, the hotel added a restaurant. Due to demand, the restaurant kept growing larger and larger.

Today, Zehnder’s has one of the largest restaurants in the US, seating 1500 persons. The restaurant is famous for large, family style chicken dinners and good service. In addition to the hotel and restaurant, the company also operates a water park, which includes an indoor water park, a video arcade, a restaurant, a gift shop, an indoor swimming pool, and spa facilities, as well as retail shops, which include food stores, a bakery, gift and yarn shops, and a sweet shop, as well as offers wedding cakes and gift cards.

Zehnder’s is still owned and operated by the Zehnder family, as well as the hotel across the street, the Bavarian Inn.

Couchsurfing was originally thought of by Casey Fenton in 1999. After finding a cheap flight to Iceland, Fenton did not want to stay at a typical hotel. He received more than 100 offers of a room to stay in after emailing more than 1500 University of Iceland students.

Today, Couchsurfing is a for profit corporation offering a social networking site, as well as being a hospitality website. The platform can be used by members to stay as a guest at someone’s home (called homestay), host travelers, meet other members, or join an event. Unlike many hospitality services, Couchsurfing is an example of what has come to be known as “gift economy”; there is no monetary exchange between members and there is no expectation by hosts for future rewards or homestays.

Currently, the company boasts more than 15 million users in approximately 200,000 cities. Serious crimes have been committed against people using this service, although the company states that they are insignificant when you consider the vast number of people using the site. Headquarters are located in San Francisco, California.

Unlike many other retailers, the company fared the recession of 2008 with a healthy bottom line, although the company did close one distribution center in August of 2017. The company is the oldest family-owned and operated hardware store in America.

Aubuchon Hardware is still owned and operated by the Aubuchon family, with grandson William E. Aubuchon III currently acting as CEO.

In March 2022, Aubuchon Hardware acquired Welch’s True Value Hardware for an undisclosed amount.

Aubuchon Hardware maintains a corporate office in Westminster, Massachusetts.

Duff’s Famous Wings began in 1947 as gin mill that Louise Duffney purchased. In 1969, the company began experimenting by adding a few food items to the menu. Before long, the company was selling more than 20 pounds of chicken wings each week.

Today, the company has 11 locations in 3 states and Canada with plans for expansion. After winning a contest between the creator of chicken wings, Anchor Bar, and Duff’s, the company decided to begin franchising. In 2014, the company partnered with the Buffalo Bills and added their famous wings to the Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Duff’s Famous Wings has a 4-star rating on Yelp and a 4.5 star out of 5-star rating on TripAdvisor.Com. Headquarters are located in Amhurst, New York.

NerdWallet, along with other advertisers, pulled their campaigns from Fox News programs, such as Jeanine Pirro, after derogatory statements were made regarding homosexuals and Muslims.
