Born to a family of pharmacists, Aliza Jabe was interested in creating vegan-based, all-natural plant-based cosmetics and other beauty products but had very little luck finding a lab that offered what she was looking for.

After finding a small research lab, Jabe created Nuxe. The company offers a wide range of health and beauty products but is perhaps best known for its skincare line.

The name is a combination of the words Nature and Luxury.

History

Starting with a single product, Nuxe has now evolved to selling internationally, in more than 60 countries and boasting 30,000 retailers who carry her products.

Jabe decided that women also needed a space where they could relax and rejuvenate themselves. In 2002, she opened the first Nuxe Spa in Paris, which now has expanded to 50 spa locations around the globe.

In September 2023, the company announced that it was committed to sustainability, despite the ever-changing rules.

Nuxe is based in Paris but maintains a corporate office in the USA in Hollywood, Florida.

Black’s Barbecue is still family-owned and operated, with Barrett Black being the 4th generation pitmaster and the family’s 5th generation is growing up with the business.

In September 2023, the online magazine TravelAwaits named New Braunfels location the second-best BBQ restaurant in the nation.

Carvalho founded Gympass in 2012. In short, Gympass is an all-in-one corporate benefit that offers employees the largest selection of gyms, studios, classes, training, and wellness apps.

Gympass allows any participating employee to attend any gym, yoga studio, or participating wellness app at no charge to the employee.

As of January 2023, the company states that more than 2 million employees use the program all around the globe.

In September 2023, the company raised $85 million in F series funding, increasing its valuation to $2.4 billion.

Gympass is being praised by many as a way of helping employees not only stay healthy but to provide a bridge between work and family life.

In April 2023, the company added MyFitnessPal to its Wellbeing Network.

In March 2023, Gympass noted that 250 million employees checked in using the app.

In May 2023, a class action lawsuit was filed against the company stating that it posts false or misleading claims about the 72-hour odor protection.

In December 2021, Lume was acquired by Harry’s Labs, owners of Harry’s Shave Club, for an undisclosed amount.
