The company designs, manufactures, and sells a variety of home items, many of them voice-activated, such as trash cans, soap dispensers, mirrors, and other items.

Yang originally named his company CanWorks, but as the company has evolved to include items other than trash cans, the name was changed.

While Yang mainly sold his products at retailers such as Bed Bath and Beyond and Home Depot, in 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Yang decided that he should also sell his items on his website.

And like many companies, due to the interruption of the supply chain, SimpleHuman has found itself overwhelmed with orders, causing many items to become back-ordered.

In April 2021, Yang donated 3,000 touchless soap dispensers to local schools not only in an effort to fight the coronavirus but to test his product to see if it will last at least 150,000 cycles.

Nearly all reviews are positive, whether it’s trash cans or paper towel holders.

In November 2022, the company released a cell phone cleaner and sanitizer that cleans cell phones safely in 30 seconds.
