Rita’s Italian Ice Corporate Office

Rita’s Italian Ice was founded in 1984 in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, by Bob Tumolo, a former firefighter. After purchasing a recipe from an elderly neighbor, Tumolo began playing with the recipe, adding fresh fruit and other ingredients to create a variety of flavors. He began by selling from his front porch, but the popularity of his product had him open a store in 1987. Tumolo named the company after his wife.

Today, Rita’s Italian Ice has more than 600 locations in 25 states, most of them franchises. Today, the company belongs to Falconhead Capital Partners. In addition to Italian ice, the company also sells ice cream, frozen custard, Misto, Blendini, ice cream cakes, ice cream sandwiches, and Gelati.

Rita’s Italian Ice has approximately 600 full time employees and recently partnered with Cadbury to create Sour Patch Kids Red Italian Ice flavored candy.

Hobee’s Restaurant Corporate Office

Hobee’s Restaurant was founded in Mountain View, California, in 1974 by Paul Tabor. Tabor wanted to begin a restaurant that was unique by offering alternatives to the usual coffee, soda, and hamburgers. The original name of the company was Hobee’s Haven. The original building, a former Dairy Belle, had no tables, and only offered take out ordered from two windows.

Today, Hobee’s is known for its unique food items, including tofu burgers, cinnamon tea, blueberry coffee cake baked fresh at each location, eggs from local free range hens, and a gluten free menu.

The company has 8 locations in and around the San Francisco area. Hobee’s has won numerous awards from newspapers and magazines in the Silicon Valley area. Vice President Joe Biden visited the Sunnyvale location in 2013.

Lillian Vernon Corporate Office

Lillian Vernon was founded in 1951 by Lillian Menasche. She wanted to help support her soon-to-be born child, so she used some of her father’s monogramming tools to make personalized belts and handbags. The company first advertised these items in Seventeen teen magazine. These monogrammed items were so successful that the company began sending out mail order catalogs in 1956.

The company went public in 1967, at the time, the first woman owned business to be listed on what was then the American Stock Exchange. Lillian Vernon is now owned by Current Media Group,LLC. Lillian passed away in New York in December of 2015.

In 1980, the company began expanding their merchandise line to include children’s items, clothing, back to school items, gifts for teachers and other types of gifts, pet supplies, holiday decor and housewares. The company still personalizes most items. Many celebrities have gotten their start as models for Lillian Vernon, including Marla Maples.

LifeShield Home Security Corporate Office

LifeShield Home Security was founded in 2004 by current CEO Louis Stilp, in Pennsylvania. The original name of the company was InGrid, Inc. The company was one of the first to use mobile phones to monitor and control the alarm system. LifeShield does not use the popular Z-Wave technology, as it tends to use more battery life and is more easily hacked. The company uses DECT technology, which allows the user to create a short-range wireless network that uses very little battery power and is not prone to interruptions from Blue Tooth or other types of wireless devices.

The company operates a home and small office security system which enables users to access via their smart phones. LifeShield was acquired by AT&T in the early part of 2016 and currently operates as a subsidiary.

Mediacom Cable was founded by Seth Miller in 1995. The company provides internet service, cable television, and telephone service to 23 states. The company was previously publicly traded but became a privately owned company in March of 2011 and is now owned by CEO Commisso.

In April 2018, Mediacom launched in Pakistan. ShareChat, India’s social media platform that is similar to Facebook, hired MediaCom to handle its media mandate in June 2019.

The company is the 5th largest provider of cable television services in the US and serves 22 states. The company’s focus is on rural areas and small towns and is the largest broadband provider in Iowa.

The FCC ranked Mediacom one of the top 4 internet service providers who actually delivers the internet speeds that customers pay for in 2012. However, that same year, a survey done by Consumer Reports lists Mediacom as one of the worst cable providers in the nation. This, according to a survey of 50,000 persons.
