My Snuggie Store was founded in 1998 in Maine by Gary Clegg. Clegg re-designed a sleeping bag with two arms so he could work more comfortably in his college dorm.

The company manufactures, designs, and sells a wearable type of blanket, intended to keep the person warm like a blanket, but with the ability to move more freely. The company sells a wide variety of colors and patterns, as well as recently introducing Snuggie Tails for children. Snuggie Tails are designed to look like fish, sharks, or mermaids and have “tails” that represent each animal.

Luna was founded in 1958 as an in-home shopping plastic slipcover company by Turkish immigrant Salamon DeZara. The company added carpet sales a few years later and launched its own TV jingle in 1997 in a bid to expand beyond its Hispanic customer base and go head-to-head with their largest competitor, Empire, now known as Empire Today.

Gatorland Corporate Office

Godwin’s Gatorland, most commonly referred to as simply Gatorland, was founded in 1949 in Orlando, Florida, by Owen Godwin. This alligator themed amusement park sits on what was once land used for cattle.

The park sits on 100 acres and offers a wide variety of animal shows and exhibits, including alligators, birds, spiders and snakes. There is also a petting zoo, breeding marsh, reptile shows, and educational programs. The park introduced a 1200 foot long zip line which goes above the park and several pools of alligators in 2011. Gatorland Express is a very narrow railroad, which allows sightseers to ride through the entire park.

F’Real Foods Corporate Office

F’Real Foods was founded in 2003 in Orinda, California, by Jim Ferrell. Ferrell started his company working out of his garage at home. The company produces a specialized type of blender and cups of ingredients to make milkshakes and smoothies.

The company sells its products in more than 10,000 outlets, such as stores, university cafeterias and military bases in the United States and Canada. F’Real Foods quickly outgrew their Orinda facility and moved in 2013 to nearby Emeryville. The company continues to grow by approximately 25 percent each year and expects to hire approximately 25 new employees every year for the next few years.

Ferrell was a former employee of Dreyer’s Ice Cream and he claims that people will choose to buy a milkshake or smoothie over a soda if they can get one easily. As of December 2012, the company is a subsidiary of Rich Products Corporation.
