The company is an online marketplace which matches professionals to customers. Similar to Angie’s List and HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack offers home repairs, handyman jobs, and painting professionals. Unlike other sites, however, Thumbtack also offers categories and services such as dog training, singing lessons, personal trainers, and DJ’s. 
Thumbtack states that they have more than 1,000 different types of services available.
The service is free for clients and charges a small fee to professionals who bid on requests for service.
In 2014, Google Capital invested $100 million in the company.
In February 2022, the company leased space on Natoma Street, San Francisco, for independent work and in-person connnections.
Also in February 2022, Utah based ClientTether and Thumbtack partnered to help pros connect with homeowners in secondshelping them to scale and grow their businesses seamlessly.
