Lions Not Sheep Apparel Corporate Office

Sean Whalen founded clothing and accessories company Lions Not Sheep in 2016. Originally just operating part time, the company went into full swing in 2020.

The company specializes in clothing such as T-shirts, tank tops, water bottles, hats, flags, keychains, stickers, and more via an active online e-commerce store.

Whalen recently come under scrutiny when his company was fined by the FTC in August 2022 for removing “Made in China” or other country tags and replacing them with “Made in the USA” tags.

Founder and CEO Sean Whalen claims that this isn’t true and tries to explain what happened in this video.

In December 2021, the company announced that they were placing a new president and COO, Dan Caldwell, in its Utah office.

Brandy Melville Corporate Office

Silvio Marson and his son Stephan founded Brandy Melville in Italy in the early 80s and opened their first US store in Los Angeles in 2009.

The company sells and designs all of its clothing in Italy. Brandy Melville is best known for its One Size Fits Most fashion, which cuts back on inventory, the cost of manufacturing, and is more environmentally friendly.

The name comes from a fictional love story about an American woman named Brandy, who falls in love with an Englishman named Melville while on vacation in Europe.

The brand is focused on very young women and teen aged girls who want to look trendy and “cool”.

The company currently has 97 locations around the world, with 36 locations in the US and has a very active eCommerce website.

While Brandy Melville doesn’t do much advertising aside from social media, it did gain a lot of unwanted attention after the CEO Stephan Marsan made it clear when opening locations in Canada that he did not want black or overweight women wearing their clothing.

Brandy Melville also received scathingly negative reviews on social media platforms in China, saying that while the clothing was cute, the entire discrimination against larger-sized people was “disgusting.”

After being criticized for not making larger-sized clothing, the company is now being criticized for not making clothing that is true to size.

The company was founded by Karl Lipsky in 1955. He named his company after his wife Jennifer and his daughter Jill.

Clothing was initially sold via a mail-order catalog, abandoned in 2018 for online sales.

The company went public on the NYSE in March 2017 under the ticker symbol JILL.

In May 2020, during the Covid pandemic, J.Jill donated $50,000 to First Responders First, through its J.Jill Compassion Fund, and launched a campaign for National Nurses Month, offering a shopping voucher for its newest collection to nurses, first responders, and healthcare workers.

J. Jill stock was down more than 50 percent in 2019 but turned itself around in 2022 when the stock took a big gain.

Mr. Blair originally took up an offer to sell raincoats. After several unsuccessful attempts at selling the coats, he was asked by an undertaker if he had any attractive black raincoats. He didn’t, but it gave him an idea. By taking advantage of the relatively new rubber vulcanization process to adhere an attractive black wool fabric to the outside of a rubber raincoat, with an inner lining of Scottish plaid.

He paid for 1200 raincoats and sold them all within days.

Today, Blair Corporation is one of America’s largest direct marketing mail order retailers, selling clothing and household goods. The company is still in business after more than 100 years.

Orchard Brands acquired Blair in 2007.

In 2015, Orchard Brands was acquired by Capmark Financial to be another business within the Bluestem Brands retail business.

Blair catalogs can still be ordered online. Amazon also offers Blair clothing, along with Walmart, and Redbubble.

Carhartt was soon making bib overalls for railroad workers. He would visit them on the job site to ensure that the clothing he made was suitable for the job.

Today, Carhartt is best known for its full-cut, wind-resistant, snag-proof, heavy-duty work jackets, which are popular with construction workers, miners, farmers, hunters, and outdoors people.

Carhartt has also successfully expanded its appeal to general streetwear. Most jacket designs are plain and manufactured in muted colors such as mustard, khaki, and navy blue. They are usually waist-length or three-quarter length. Most are made from relatively stiff 12-ounce cotton canvas with triple-stitched seams.

Carhartt is still a privately held, family-owned company, owned by the descendants of founder Hamilton Carhartt.

Carhartt products are sold by a variety of retailers, but the company refuses to have their items sold in discount stores such as Walmart.

The company has a flagship store located in Detroit, Michigan.

Carhartt clothing is also popular with politicians trying to connect with blue-collar voters. Sarah Palin, Rick Perry, and Barack Obama have all been seen prominently wearing Carhartt clothing or jackets.

In January 2022, the company was criticized by conservative news media for its COVID-19 mandate for employees.

The company defended its stance and faces a possible boycott.
