The Avenue Stores were founded in 1987, originally under the name Sizes Unlimited. The company operates a chain of clothing stores tailored to the plus size woman.

The company’s focus is on women between the ages of 25 and 55 who wear clothing sizes 14 and up. Growing slowly over the years, the company at one time had 500 locations across the US, but closed approximately 120 low performing stores in 2009. Women’s clothing size 14 and up accounted for $16.2 billion in sales in 2013. Avenue Stores was acquired by Versa in 2012 after Avenue’s parent company, United Retail Group, went bankrupt earlier that same year.

Rumor has it that Versa is considering selling the company, even though the plus sized clothing company is doing well.

In August 2019, Versa closed all 222 Avenue store locations and filed for bankruptcy. 

A company spokesperson stated that the company would remain online through their e-commerce site.

Corporate office headquarters are now located in Rochelle Park, New Jersey.

Precision Overhead Garage Door was founded in 1988 in Arizona as a small, family owned business. The company became incorporated in 1997 and began franchising in 1999. The company sells, installs, and repairs garage doors and door openers.

Today, the company is one of the best known names in garage door installation, repair, and automatic openers. There are currently 80 locations in 35 states. Entrepreneur Magazine Franchise 500 has listed the company since 2013. Since 2015, the company has offered in house financing through a partnership with Synchrony Financial.

Precision Overhead Garage Door currently has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Company headquarters were moved from Arizona to Titusville, Florida, in the early 2000’s.

Sheridan loved everything purple, but found that many manufacturers didn’t make items in purple or they made multi-colored sets and Sheridan only wanted the purple item, so he decided to make a store that sold only items in the color purple.

The company began as an online store, with the brick and mortar location, opening a few years later. The company sells everything from t-shirts, jewelry, kitchen appliances, lingerie, pet accessories, even purple wedding items. Currently ,the store carries 750 items, but has plans for expansion.

Minted operates an online marketplace of independent artists and designers who sell their products on the website.

The company began by offering stationery and invitations, but by 2012 was offering wall prints, party decor, and pillowcases. More than $90 million has been raised via Crowd Sourcing for expansion of the company, which operates in 60 countries and all 50 states.  In 2008, the company began a program called “Design Challenge”, where artists submit their work for a particular project, participants vote, and the winner’s products are sold online.
