Zach Bush, M.D., founded Biomic Sciences in 2012. Believing that chemicals in our food, such as Glyphosate, harm the natural bio-diversity of the digestive system, Dr. Bush created several products to combat the ill-effects of such chemicals and restore the body’s natural balance.

ION Gut Support, the ION standing for Intelligence of Nature (previously called Restore), supports digestive health and the improved absorption of nutrients, according to company statements.

Also in the ION line is a skincare spray and a pet digestive product designed specifically for cats and dogs.

History

Biomic Sciences used to have a nasal spray that was meant to cleanse and clear nasal passages however in early October 2023, the company issued a recall for all nasal sprays it had produced under the names ION Sinus Support, ION Biome Sinus, and Restor Sinus Spray due to contamination that in some instances could be life threatening.

No one has reported any injuries or health-related problems and Biomic Sciences voluntarily recalled their products.

Upway E-bikes, more commonly known as simply Upway was founded in France in 2019. The founders realized that there were thousands of E-bikes that needed repair. They began with a repair shop, then decided to sell their refurbished electric and hybrid bicycles.

While consumers can purchase a used E-bike on eBay or Craigslist, most people feel better with some type of warranty. Upway offers a full 14-day, no-questions-asked return period and a full 1-year warranty on repairs.

The company quickly made a name for itself in Europe, and in early 2023, Upway began offering its refurbished e-bikes for sale in the USA from its warehouse in New York.

History

Upway also offers new e-bikes for sale but the overwhelming majority of its business is from the sale of refurbished bikes, which saves consumers thousands of dollars over the price of a new bike.

In November 2023, the company raised $30 million in Series B funding to increase its shipping capacity within the US.

In some states, buyers can qualify for tax credits and subsidies for purchasing refurbished e-bikes.

Too Good to Go was founded in 2016.

History

The app covers major European cities, and in October 2020 started operations in North America.

In 2022, Too Good To Go was the fastest-growing sustainable food app startup by number of downloads.

As of August 2022, it claimed 164,000 businesses, serving 62 million users, have saved 155 million bags of food.

As of March 2023, it claimed to have saved over 200 million meals.

Too Good to Go is highly rated by nearly all review sites and online publications, including NPR.

In May 2023, the company expanded its availability within the state of Texas.

Summit Chemical was founded in 1962 by Elliot Kermerman. Originally named Summit Research, for over 55 years, the company has been a pioneer in the production of aluminum chlorohydrate for the antiperspirant market.

As a longstanding market leader and innovator, Summit has consistently created new products in the area of aluminum chlorohydrate and polyaluminum chloride products. These products cater to diverse industries such as personal care, water treatment, paper, and allied sectors.

While few are familar with the name Summit Chemical, nearly everyone is familar with the company’s biggest seller, Mosquito Dunks and Mosquito Bits.

History

Mosquitos are annoying and dangerous little insects who spread terrible diseases such as Dengue and Yellow Fever. Mosquito control can be difficult and Mosquito Dunks or Mosquito Bits are often named as one of the best ways to help control these pests while remaining safe for humans and animals.

In addition to Mosquito Dunks, the company also manufactures sticky tape to capture whiteflies, deer repellant, an aluminum chloride product that is added to many deodorants/anti-persperants, waste water and potable water treatments, and more.

Tiktok is a social media platform that was dewsigned for those interested in learning short, new dances, but has quickly become a major source of all types of interactions, from fashion consultants, political discources, and funny animal videos.

As of 2022, the cmopany states that the app has been downloaded more than 2 billion times.

History

According to data from app analytics group Sensor Tower, advertising on TikTok in the US grew by 11% in March 2023, with companies including Pepsi, DoorDash, Amazon, and Apple among the top spenders. According to estimates from research group Insider Intelligence, TikTok is projected to generate $14.15 billion in revenue in 2023, up from $9.89 billion in 2022.

TikTok has many “influencers” who create new dance steps or challenges. Some challenges are not safe, however, as this student discovered.

The US Federal Government has some concerns about this social media app, however, and most government offices do not allow the app on government cell phones.

TikTok keeps its main corporate office in China, but it does have one in the USA in Culver City, California.
