Luby’s was founded in 1947 in San Antonio, Texas, by Harry Luby. Originally named Luby’s Cafeteria, the company grew quickly throughout Texas and soon into other states.

Luby’s operates a chain of cafeteria style restaurants which feature made from scratch foods similar to the ones made in most American homes. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, Luby’s offers meal packages for customers to take home.

Today, Luby’s operates numerous restaurants under the names Luby’s, Fuddruckers, Koo Koo Roo, and Cheeseburger in Paradise. There are currently Luby’s restaurants, 195 Fuddruckers locations in the US, 10 Koo Koo Roo restaurants, and 8 Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants. The company had annual revenue in 2014 of $400.8 million and more than 8,200 full time employees.

Serta was founded in 1931 by a group of 13 mattress manufacturers who branded the Serta name. The Serta name was operated by National Bedding Company, who holds 27 of the 34 Serta manufacturing licenses. Today, the company is owned by Serta Simmons Holdings, LLC.

Serta is the number one selling brand of mattresses in the US. The company offers 3 different types of mattresses; the traditional spring mattress, a gel infused memory mattress, and the hybrid, which combines both spring and gel infused.

In 2015, Serta had annual revenue of $1.47 billion, an increase of 26.7% over 2014. Long time CEO Bob Sherman suddenly stepped down in late 2013. Current CEO of Serta Simmons Holdings, Gary Fazio, has been appointed to the office.

Torrid Corporate Office

Torrid was founded in 2001 as an off-shoot of the company Hot Topic. The company offers plus sized women’s and girl’s clothing between sizes 10 and 30. Torrid formed its own company, Torrid LLC, in 2015.

As of early 2016, the company had more than 400 locations in 36 states, and recently opened a large store in Toronto, Canada. In addition to clothing, the company also offers accessories, such as handbags, intimate apparel, and beauty items.

Torrid is searching for a new model to represent their stores in 2017. In 2016, more than 14,000 women were interviewed and the company has stated that they expect twice that many applicants in 2017. Torrid prefers using customers as models, rather than professional models or actresses.

In July of 2017, the company went public on the NYSE, under the ticker symbol: CURV.

Au Bon Pain was founded in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1977 by Louis Rapuano. The company operates a chain of bakery/cafe’s which feature foods cooked with freshly made baked goods made at the restaurant. The name is French and roughly means “a place for good bread”.

The first location was in Boston’s Fanieul Hall and it featured a bakery with glass walls so customers could see their baked goods being made, a revolutionary concept in 1977. The company focus is on fresh baked goods, including croissants, bagels, pastries, and bread. In 2014, the company hired chef Katherine See as their head chef. The company is owned by LNK Management, a private equity firm, who acquired it in 2008.

As of 2014, the company had 243 locations, with 108 of these being franchised, as well as numerous locations in other countries, including India and Thailand. Most restaurants are found in hospitals, airports, shopping centers, and universities.

Travelocity Corporate Office

Travelocity

Travelocity was founded in 1996 as a subsidiary of American Airlines reservation company Sabre Holdings. The company began to expand quickly once it began advertising on AOL in 1999.

The company operates an online reservation system that offers discounts on airline tickets, car rentals, hotel reservations, and packaged vacations. Travelocity has acquired numerous companies over the years, including AllHotels.Com, Site 59, and Lastminute.Com. Travelocity now operates as a subsidiary of Expedia.com, who acquired the company in January of 2015 for $280 million.

Expedia states that it has no intention, as of today, of changing Travelocity’s name. It is rumored that Expedia might also be interested in purchasing Orbitz.
