Eastbay.Com was founded by Richard Gering and Art Juedes in 1980. The pair sold discount shoes, but found that they mostly sold athletic shoes. In 1983, they set up a catalog that was strictly athletic shoes, running shoes, and other sports shoes. Within 3 years, they had so many orders, they had to hire phone operators and by 1990, the warehouse, call center, and shipping deparment took up an entire city block.

Today, Eastbay.Com is operated by Foot Locker, Inc., who purchased the company in 2001.

Eastbay.Com also sells their own brand of athletic clothing, including jackets, hats, underwear, pants, shorts, socks, and tops. The company has 3,000 full time employees. The company also sells athletic equipment, such as balls, bats, gloves, braces, goggles, and, headbands and helmets.

The company maintains a corporate office in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Marco’s Pizza was founded in 1978 by Pascuale, “Pat”, Giammarco in Oregon, Ohio. Giammarco immigrated to the US from Italy, along with his family, when he was 9. He grew up working the family’s pizzeria, where he and his father spent years making the perfect pizza sauce. This sauce recipe is still used in all locations.

The company operates a chain of franchised pizza locations that specialize in Italian cuisine. There are approximately 1,000 franchises in the US in 2018, with more located in The Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and India.

Pizza Today ranked Marco’s Pizza as #12 on their list of Top 100 Pizza Chains in the US. Franchising World also ranked the company as #8 on their list of Up and Coming Franchise Operations. Consumer Reports places Marco’s Pizza as #3 on their list of Best Pizza Chain in 2014.

Despite the coronavirus, the company plans on opening approximately 80 new locations in 2020. 

In February 2023, the company announced it had big expansion plans for Northern Virginia.

Le Bernardin was founded in 1972 in Paris, France. The restaurant moved to New York in 1986. Originally begun by Gilbert Le Coze and his sister Maguy, Gilbert passed away suddenly in 1994. Le Coze added famous chef Eric Ripert to her team. Ripert has since gone on to become co-owner of the restaurant.

Le Bernardin is one of only 6 restaurants that was awarded the coveted Michelin award of 3 stars. The restaurant has also held the top 4-star ranking in The New York Times since its opening.

The restaurant is best known for its French-style seafood dishes.

The furniture sold so quickly that Amthor opened a warehouse and began importing shiploads of imported items, which he sold at cost plus 10%, thus the company name.

The company is a chain of retail stores which sell specialty and imported items such as housewares, furniture, coffee, and candles. Today, the company has 276 locations in 35 states.
