Marco’s Pizza was founded in 1978 by Pascuale, “Pat”, Giammarco in Oregon, Ohio. Giammarco immigrated to the US from Italy, along with his family, when he was 9. He grew up working the family’s pizzeria, where he and his father spent years making the perfect pizza sauce. This sauce recipe is still used in all locations.
The company operates a chain of franchised pizza locations that specialize in Italian cuisine. There are approximately 700 franchises in the US, with more located in The Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and India.
Pizza Today ranked Marco’s Pizza as #12 on their list of Top 100 Pizza Chains in the US. Franchising World also ranked the company as #8 on their list of Up and Coming Franchise Operations. Consumer Reports places Marco’s Pizza as #3 on their list of Best Pizza Chain in 2014.
