Boston Beer Company was founded in 1984 by Jim Koch and Rhonda Kallman. Koch came from a long line of family beer makers, so he set out to make a unique, American style beer. The original beer was Samuel Adams Boston Lager. The name comes from the Boston patriot Samuel Adams who, in addition to fighting for independence, was an avid beer brewer.

Today, the company is the second largest brewer in America, with $903 million in revenue in 2014, along with nearly 1,400 full time employees. The company went public on the NYSE under the ticker symbol: SAM in 1995. These shares have no voting rights, however, as the Boston Beer Company holds 10 percent of the Class B Common Stock shares.

In 2008, Koch began the Brewing the American Dream program, which has helped more than 4,000 entrepreneurs launch their dream of owning their own businesses.

Papa Murphy’s Take N Bake Pizza began in 1984 as Murphy’s Pizza. Papa Aldo’s Pizza began in 1981. These two companies merged into Papa Murphy’s in 1995 when Terry Collins purchased both companies.

The company operates a chain of “take and bake” pizza restaurants, with most of the locations being franchises. Lee Equity Partners of New York purchased the chain in 2010 and went public on the NYSE under the ticker symbol: FRSH in 2014. Quick Service Restaurants rated Papa Murphy’s in 2013 with the Franchisee Satisfaction Award and Top Pizza Chain in 2014.

Papa Murphy’s Take N Bake Pizza currently has more than 1,425 stores in 38 states. There are also locations in Canada and Dubai. Because the pizzas sold are uncooked, most locations allow them to be purchased with food stamps or EBT.

Today, Bookit.Com has become the largest privately held travel booking systems online. The company was the first to provide bookings and reservations for hotels and airlines internationally. It currently has more than 100 destinations and has offices in the US, Mexico,and the Caribbean.

Bookit.Com began using the FROM technology in 2008, making it easier for customers to find their destination quickly. The company states that in 2010 they had more than 5 million visitors to their webpage. Jamin Finlaw began operating as CEO in 2010, although Arthur “Bud” Finlaw still works at the company daily.

Air Canada was founded in 1937 as Trans-Canada Air Lines. The company is the largest airline in Canada, with more than 1,500 flights every day. The company is the world’s 10th largest airline and is a founding member of The Star Alliance network of airlines.

The company was renamed Air Canada in 1965. In addition to the main airline, the company also had several subsidiaries, including Air Canada Vacations, Air Canada Cargo, Air Canada Express, and Air Canada Rouge. In 2000, the company acquired their competition, Canadian Airlines.

As the Air Canada and Aeroplan changed, the division of points collection & spending, and had Air Canada introduce an internal rewards program, Altitude. Altitude is also going to be updated and replaced sometime in 2020.
