Wild Wing Cafe Corporate Office

ww 1

Wild Wing Cafe was founded in 1990 in Hilton Head, South Carolina, by Cecil & Diane Crowley. After hosting numerous Super Bowl parties at their house, the couple decided to open a restaurant which featured their beloved chicken wing recipes.

ww 2  The company began with a single location and 8 different sauces. On their first day of business, the company actually ran out of food due to unexpected crowds.

Unlike many restaurants at the time, Cecil and Diane insisted on using fresh ingredients, rather than relying on frozen or prepackaged sauces. Most of the sauces were the Crowley’s own recipes, so the ingredients are kept under wraps.

ww 4 In addition to wings with 33 different sauces, the company offers a variety of other foods, including soups, salads, wraps, burgers, and a host of sandwiches, as well as wide range of draft beers. Almost all locations offer free live music 7 days a week. ww 3

As of 2017, the company has 47 locations in 10 states, as well as plans to double the number of locations by 2020, according to CEO Tom Lewison.

In January of 2012, a majority interest in the chain was secured by Charlotte, North Carolina-based Axum Capital Partnership, an investment company. The Crowley retains part ownership in the company.

In 2021, the company announced that it was planning for a major expansion in the Charlotte, North Carolina, area.

In 2023, the chain has closed several locations without comment and without warning.

Headquarters for the chain are located in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

Chanel Corporate Office

chanel 1

Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was an orphan who learned all about sewing and dressmaking from the nuns at the orphanage where she lived. When she was 18, she opened a hat-making shop on the ground floor of the Parisian flat of the textile businessman Etienne Balsan.  Because the Balsan flat also was a salon for the French hunting and sporting élite, Chanel had the opportunity to meet many mistresses and wives, who became fans of her hats and, soon afterward, her dresses.

chanel  At a time when corsets and large feathered hats were still in style, Chanel was unique in that she was more interested in comfort than style. She instantly did become a fashion icon, as women everywhere began ditching their corsets and wearing “the little black dress” and the Chanel suit dress. chanel 2

The color black was only worn by widows or those in mourning until Chanel introduced it as an acceptable fashion statement with “the little black dress. little-black-dress-1_large  Chanel is also known for using jersey cloth, which was commonly used for men’s underwear.

In 1921, Chanel asked a perfume maker to create a new fragrance to match her clothing. This perfume, which she named Chanel #5, is now the best-known perfume name in the world. The #5 name came simply from the perfume batch that Chanel liked best. chanel 1  While Chanel stores in Europe had to close during WWII, Chanel herself was allowed by the Nazi regime to continue making her perfume. After the war, she decided to retire to Switzerland.

Chanel grew bored with retirement, however, and returned to France, to find the world was enamored with a new designer, Christian Dior. Determined to get back into the business, Chanel created new suits, a line of jewelry, and what would become the infamous handbag design with the double C embossed into the leather. chanel 4

Coco Chanel passed away in 1971, but her infamous stores and products continue on. The company has more than 300 stores located around the world and an untold number of upscale stores carry her designer items.

In 2016, the company had an estimated annual revenue of $5.2 billion. The corporate office for Chanel in the USA is located in New York, New York. chanel 3

The Palm Corporate Office

Palm 1

The Palm restaurant was founded in 1920 by two Italian brothers, Pio Bozzi and John Ganzi. While trying to obtain a license, the clerk had difficulty understanding this pair of businessmen, who had a strong Italian accent. Instead of issuing the license in the name of The Parma, they wrote The Palm. Bozzi and Ganzi decided it was easier to change the name of the restaurant, rather than change the name on the license.

palm 3  The restaurant served lunch and dinner for many years, using a single dining room. Later, a second room was installed, later a second floor was added, before being expanded to a much larger location across the street.

palm 5  Today, the company has 22 locations with plans to expand to 30 locations by 2020.

When the Palm first opened, it operated as a conventional Italian restaurant offering fare similar to that found in New York’s Little Italy neighborhood. Early in its history, however, a customer made a request for steak and the owners broiled it after retrieving meat from a butcher on Second Ave. As told in the Palm cookbook, the original request led to others and the item was finally put on the menu.

Later, the restaurant added Nova Scotia lobesters, as well as aged USDA prime beef, as well as a selection of salads.

Perhaps one of the defining features of the restaurant has been the tradition of using caricatures to cover the walls, rather than paint or paper. Those depicted in the murals are often celebrities, well known politicians, comedians, as well as sports and other media figures.

The Palm’s historical materials contend this tradition began as a twist on the phrase “sing for your meal” where an artist who enjoyed their meal would pay for it by drawing a portrait on the wall. Numerous celebrities have often provided an autograph next to their portrait. This tradition has continued at all other locations. palm 6

The grandson’s of the original owners are the third generation now operating the chain. Frequent customers are encouraged to join the 837 Club, which offers an accumulation of points, which can be used on future visits, as well as a free lobster dinner on the patron’s birthday.

The company filed for bankruptcy in 2019 due to an argument between family members. The judge overseeing the case ordered the restaurant chain sold in November 2019.

RockAuto Corporate Office

rockauto 1

RockAuto was founded in 1999 by brothers Tom and Jim Taylor. After growing up in Detroit and working for both the GM and Chrysler factories, these brothers found true frustration with most auto parts stores. In the 1980’s, car factories were closing and many auto parts stores were struggling. Tom and Jim moved to Madison, Wisconsin, and after trying to be happy working other jobs, they decided to open their own online auto parts store.

rockauto 5  While RockAuto claims to have more than 1 million parts in stock, the company actually uses large distributors to actually hold items in a warehouse. RockAuto finds the parts and has the distributor ship the parts to the customer. RockAuto backs their suppliers, however, and if there is ever a problem. RockAuto takes care of the issue.

rockauto 4  The company has been growing steadily over the years but is reluctant to actually release any numbers. RockAuto has recently been running some ads on prime-time television shows, such as the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC. The commercials might be a bit corny, but the company says they have been effective. rockauto 3

A survey in 2020 found that companies such as RockAuto who frequently use radio advertising, do better than those who do not.

RockAuto has a 4.7 out of a 5-star rating on many review sites, such as Google. The Better Business Bureau gives them an A+ rating, with more than 790 positive reviews. Company headquarters remain in Madison, Wisconsin.
