Medieval Times Corporate Office

Medieval Times was founded in Kissimmee, Florida, in 1983 by Jose Montaner. Montaner actually began in the 1960s with plays in his native Spain.

In 1983 the Spanish investment group Manver opened the first U.S. show at Orlando near Disney World. In 1986 they opened their second establishment near Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California.

The company operates an entertainment arena that offers simulated medieval jousting, sword fights, and other games while patrons eat a buffet-style dinner.

Shows change about every six years, with the latest change being in 2017, where a queen ruled over the games, rather than the traditional king.

Jose’s son Perico Montaner is now the President and CEO of the private company, overseeing 10 locations in 9 states.

In February 2023, workers at the Buena Park, California, location went on strike citing unfair labor practices.

In December 2022, the company donated $10,000 to several food banks across the country.

In 2016, Pure Flix announced that it has struck a long-term multi-year distribution deal with Universal Pictures, which would officially manage the home media releases of every Pure Flix-produced film, starting with Woodlawn.

In early 2020, Mickey Rourke was signed as the leading man of the religious drama “Man of God, for which Pure Flix picked up the rights to all international sales.

In October 2019, the company released a new comedy series called “Mood Swing”, starring Donna Mills and Dyan Cannon.

Headquarters for Pure Flix is located in Scottsdale, Arizona.

From these humble beginnings, Harkins Theatres has grown into a large movie chain in the Southwestern portion of the US. The company currently has 34 locations in 5 states, some of these through acquisition.

Every summer, Harkins Theatres hosts Summer Movie Fun, which is geared for children. The program features 10 children’s movies from the previous year. Harkins developed the program more than 30 years ago as a way to offer parents an affordable summer activity for children.

HBO was founded by Charles Dolan, who devised a system of underground cables to deliver closed circuit tourist information to hotels in the New York metro area. In 1973, Time Warner purchased a 20% interest in Dolan’s company.

This was the humble beginnings of what would become one of the largest and best-known pay cable channels.

In 1975, HBO became the first television channel to operated 24/7 via a satellite system. By 1980, HBO was carried by cable providers to all 50 US states.

HBO Advertising  The network provides seven 24-hour multiplex channels, including HBO Comedy, HBO Latino, HBO Signature, and HBO Family. It launched the streaming service HBO NOW in April 2015 and has over 2 million subscribers in the United States as of February 2017.

In October 2018, the company announced that it would offer a streaming service similar to Netflix with HBO as its base sometime in 2019.

In 2016, the company had annual revenue of $5.89 billion and an operating income of less than $2 billion. Company headquarters remain in New York, New York. HBO operates as a subsidiary of Warner Media.
