In 1999, PC Magazine listed IGN as one of the top 100 best websites.
Today, IGN focuses on games, television, comics, technology, films, and other media.
Originally a network of desktop websites, IGN is now also distributed on mobile platforms and console programs on the Xbox and PlayStation, FireTV, Roku, YouTube, Twitch, Hulu, and Snapchat.
IGN was sold to publishing company Ziff Davis in February 2013 and now operates as a subsidiary.
In September 2022, IGN Entertainment placed banners on games expressing condolences to the Royal Family after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Despite the sale to Ziff Davis, Inc., IGN Entertainment headquarters remain in San Francisco, California.
