Protection 1 Corporate Office

Protection 1 was founded in 1988 as an offshoot of the electric company Pacificorp. The company soon merged with Westar Energy and quickly became a popular security company.

The company operates home and business security services, including burglar alarms, video surveillance services, fire alarms, personal alarms, carbon monoxide, flood, and temperature alerts, as well as home automation services. The company has been sold several times over the years, and currently operates as a subsidiary of Prime Security Services Borrower, LLC.

In the early part of 2016, the company acquired one of the largest security service providers in the country, ADT Security Services for $42.00 per share, cash. Once the sale is complete, it is expected that all Protection 1 providers will be rebranded to the ADT name.

Colony Brands Inc. Corporate Office

Colony Brands, originally called Swiss Colony, was founded in 1926 in Monroe, Wisconsin. Ray Kubly thought that the large Swiss population there would be interested in buying cheese imported from their country.The company’s first year saw only 50 orders, but soon grew quickly. Later it added other food items to the mail order catalog, including sausage, baked goods, and candy. In 1982, the company began offering non-food items such as bedding, home furnishings, electronics, games, and jewelry.

Today, Colony Brands operates catalog and retail stores under several names including Montgomery Wards, Ginny’s, One Step Ahead, Through the Country Door, Swiss Colony, Midnight Velvet, and the Wisconsin Cheeseman.

In December 2020, the company acquired Care Supply for an undisclosed sum.

The company employs more than 6,000 people, about 50 percent of these during the busy winter holiday season. The company officially changed its name to Colony Brands, Inc., in 2010.

Ackerman Security was founded in 1967 by current CEO Bruce Turry, and has headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Turry was followed home one evening and was robbed, his house burglarized. Rather than wish the police could have done something, Turry decided to make his own alarm company to help prevent this from happening to others.

Today, Ackerman Security offers home and business burglary alarms, security systems, video monitoring, and web enabled devices which can be operated from any smart phone, tablet, or computer. The company has more than 47,000 homes and business clients across the US and has seen tremendous growth over the past decade.

Orscheln Farm & Home Supply Corporate Office

Orscheln Farm and Home Supply was founded in 1960 by W.C. Orscheln in Sedelia, Missouri. Although the Orscheln brothers had been in the trucking and farming equipment business since at least the 1930’s, the company’s focus moved to supplying rural American families and small-time farmers with the supplies they needed.

The company operates a chain of home improvement, farm supplies, and hunting supplies. The distribution center and headquarters are located in Moberly, Missouri. The recent acquisition of a warehouse/distribution center in Abilene, Kansas, is meant to supply locations that are under construction or are about to open.
