La Santisima Gourmet Taco Shop was founded in 2010 by Felipe Guzman and his mother Guadalupe in Phoenix, Arizona. Originally called La Condessa, the company changed names a few years after opening.

Guzman has stated that anyone could open a taco stand, which is why he changed to name to “gourmet taco shop” because his tacos and other Mexican food is anything but ordinary. Steering away from the typical Tex-Mex style of food, Guzman’s food is so popular that they opened a second restaurant a short 5 years later.

While some restaurants are content to serve you fresh salsa, Guzman offers a salsa bar, where clients can pick and choose from a dozen or more different types of salsa.

Kent International Bicycles was founded in 1909 by the grandfather of the current CEO Arnold Kramer. Originally named Philcam Cycle, the company changed its name to Kent in 1958.

The companies products are sold in most major department stores and cycling shops, including Target and Walmart. Originally reluctant to purchase their bicycles, 25% of all bicycle sales at Walmart are Kent.

The company generates revenue when a senior who was referred by an advisor moves to a provider within A Place for Mom’s partner network. The company works with over 17,000 partner communities as part of its partner network. APFM reviews licenses and violations of partner communities twice a year.

The company is the largest senior referral service in both the US and Canada. Free to families, the company makes an assessment of the seniors’ needs and then matches them with one of the 18,500 retirement communities within the network.

Bird Ride Scooters Corporate Office

Travis Vanderzanden founded Bird Ride Scooters, usually referred to as Bird or Bird Scooters, in 2017 in Venice, California. Vanderzanden says that he has been fascinated by transportation since he was a kid. His mother was a bus driver and he often went along with her on the route after school. He watched (and wondered) with fascination at how people managed to get to the bus stop or get home after getting off of the bus.

Believing that bicycles are a thing of the past, Vanderzanden found that people were extremely interested in renting electric scooters, which provide a simple, economical, and green way to “catch a ride.” Scooters can be left virtually anywhere and picked up the same way. The company charges $5 for the rental, then charges by the minute. Vanderzanden solved the recharging problem by adding a section to the mobile app showing which scooters needed charging and where they were located. The company pay $4 per scooter for people to pick them up, take them home and recharge them. All scooters are picked up and put back in their original rental spaces after 9 PM when it’s illegal in most places to ride them due to a lack of lighting on the scooters.

Vanderzanden says that more than 1 million people have taken rides on his scooters, which are now found in 7 metropolitan cities, including San Francisco and Washington, D.C.

Many cities, however, are unhappy with the electric scooters, claiming that riders violate the laws and that scooters are dumped anywhere and everywhere, causing a nuisance. Vanderzanden says that the company tries to educate people on scooter laws and etiquette but the company itself is not to blame if people don’t obey the laws.

The company is an online and mobile job recruitment site which matches employers and job seekers. While the concept isn’t new, the platform has features other sites don’t, such as rewriting job listings to ensure companies reach the maximum number of applicants who might be interested, as well as a larger focus on the mobile app.

Online job services has become a huge market. People no longer comb through newspapers or company websites seeking jobs, they want to use their mobile phone or find a site which is tailored to job seekers. While Linkedin does post jobs, most people see it as more of a networking site, not necessarily where employers would go to look for employees.
