Bausch + Lomb can trace its roots back to 1853 when two German immigrants to the US, John Bausch, and Henry Lomb made a small workshop which manufactured monocles. The business was so successful that by 1861, they were also manufacturing rubber eyeglass frames, as well as other eyewear products.

Wag was founded by Josh Viner in 2014 after he realized that he would love to own a dog, but had no time in his schedule to walk his pet.

Wag is a mobile phone app that matches dog walkers with people who want someone to look after their dog. The service also includes pet sitting services. Some have dubbed Wag as an “Uber” for dogs.

Numerous celebrities are known to use Wag, including Kendall Jenner, Mariah Carey, and Chloe Grace Moretz. The app currently works in 43 states and more than 100 cities, with new cities being added regularly. Clients receive a lockbox and dog walkers receive the code to the box when they sign up to walk the dog.

The company donates part of their profits to shelter’s across the US, providing food and has a partnership with Greater Good to foster dogs around the globe.

The company has come under intense scrutiny and has received scathing criticism for sloppy and potential dangerous leaks. Due to a technical glitch, Wag recently leaked clients names, addresses, and lockbox codes for anyone who viewed the site. Dogs have been “lost”, and one dog walker was seen on a client’s camera, making himself at home by watching TV, drinking beer, and slouching on the sofa.

LoveSac was founded in 1995 by current CEO Shawn D. Nelson. He started his business by making bean bag chairs and selling them to other University of Utah students. After learning Chinese while on a religious mission, Nelson put this skill to use to purchase material directly from China for his first large order. In 2005, he won a $1 million investment on Richard Branson’s reality TV show “The Rebel Billionaire.”

The company is best known for its gigantic bean bag “chairs” that are so big, they can double as couches or even beds. LoveSac also makes sectional sofas that can be rearranged into various configurations, change seat covers, and exchange parts that become damaged, rather than purchase a new set.

LoveSac filed for bankruptcy in 2006 but emerged that same year. In 2012 it was named the Fastest Growing Furniture Company in the US by Furniture Today magazine and in June of 2018, the company went public on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol: LOVE.

MeUndies was founded in 2011 by then 25-year-o9ld Jonathan Shokrian. After purchasing some underwear while on a business trip, Shokrian was unimpressed by what was supposed to be “premium” underwear. With $400,000 in start-up funds, Shokrian decided he would change how people not only purchased underwear but also improve the quality of these undergarments.

The company operates an online subscription service that offers mostly underwear for both men and women, as well as bras. Advertised as the most comfortable underwear ever, clients can change styles every month if they wish or order more if they find a style they love.

The company first advertised on a porn site and still has what some consider to be fairly racy ads, featuring gay men and plus sized women. Shokrian admits that his products are not made in the USA, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. He searched all over Los Angeles and the country for materials and a factory but was unsuccessful.
