Lehman’s Corporate Office

Lehman’s Hardware and Appliances, today, simply called Lehman’s, was founded in 1955 by Jay Lehman. His idea was to sell non-electrical and other types of old fashioned tools and hardware to the Amish community in Ohio. Business was nothing more than average until the oil embargo of 1973, when everyone began looking for ways to beat the energy crisis.

Today, Lehman’s specializes in tools and survival gear for environmentalists, survival buffs, Preppers, and those who prefer “off the grid” living. The Amish community used to make up 95% of company sales, today, they account for only about 5% of annual revenue. The company remodeled the store front, using Amish workers, to restore it to its original 1955 facade, although the store has doubled in size over the past decade.

The store is a popular tourist attraction as well, with many people believing that it is a type of museum, when in fact, every item in the store is for sale and is fully functional.

BrandsMart USA Corporate Office

BrandsMart USA was founded by current CEO Robert Perlman in 1977 in Miami, Florida. The company is incorporated under the Interbond Corporation, and does business under the names of BrandsMart USA and BrandsMart. The original location is no longer used. The company moved to a larger warehouse, more than 186,000 square feet, a few years later.

Today, BrandsMart USA has 11 stores in Florida and Georgia. The company has approximately 3,000 full time employees and claims to be the largest volume retailer in the US. Each store stocks a large assortment of televisions, consumer electronics, furniture, appliances, computers, and cameras.

Each location has a unique octagonal design, along with a mezzanine, which allows almost every department in the store to be viewed from almost every location inside the store. BrandsMart USA claims to have more than 50,000 items in each location, and even more at their eCommerce site.

In March 2020, despite the coronavirus pandemic, Brandsmart stated that their stores would remain open.  

In mid-September 2020, several Brandsmart parking lots were being used as drive-through COVID testing centers. 

The company maintains a corporate office in Hollywood, Florida.

Curacao Corporate Office

Kirby Company Corporate Office

The Kirby Company manufactures vacuum cleaners.

In 1906 Jim Kirby developed his first vacuum cleaner, the Domestic Cyclone.

In 1914 George H. Scott starts the George H. Scott Machine Shop. The next year he was joined by Carl Fetzer, changing the name of the company to The Scott & Fetzer Machine Company.

Jim Kirby began designing vacuum cleaners for the company after World War I, designing the Wireless Vac-u-ette, which is the predecessor of the modern multi-attachment vacuum cleaner model.

In 1920 the company began its direct-sales model, selling the Vac-u-ette door to door by independent sales people.

The company continued to introduce new models, each more popular and profitable than the last.

Berkshire Hathaway bought Kirby parent Scott Fetzer in 1986 for $315 million.

Today The Kirby Company still sells vacuum cleaners exclusively door-to-door and cost about $1,800. The machines come with a lifetime warranty.

Kirby vacuum cleaners are sold in the United States and 70 countries worldwide.
