6PM.Com was founded in 1999 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Originally named Shoedini.Com,Inc. The company changed their name to 6PM.Com, LLC, in late 2005 and is now a subsidiary of Zappos.Com,Inc, which is owned by Amazon.Com.

6PM.Com offers online shopping for new and discounted women’s, men’s, and children’s shoes, ladies handbags, luxury watches, backpacks, swimwear, coats, sweaters, jeans, ladies skirts, and children’s clothing. The company also offers a wide range of men’s wear including underwear, socks, jeans, sweatshirts, and belts. In addition to clothing and shoes, 6PM.Com also offers sporting goods, home exercise equipment, housewares, luggage, messenger bags, briefcases, diaper bags, as well as wallets for both men and women.

In May of 2010, a glitch in a computer system accidentally priced everything online at $49.99, including GPS navigation systems and other items costing several hundred dollars. 6PM.Com stood by their online pricing, which cost the company $1.6 million.

Von Maur Corporate Office

Von Maur was founded in 1872 by J.H.C. Petersen and his three sons in Davenport, Iowa. Petersen’s son, William, sold the store in 1916 to R. Harned and the Von Maur brothers. The Von Maur’s assumed complete ownership of the company after Harned passed away in 1937.

Today, the company has 30 locations and offers upscale clothing, footwear, ladies handbags, jewelry, and accessories. Von Maur is known for offering an interest free credit card, free shipping, free shipping for online returns, and free gift wrapping. Most Von Maur stores feature a live pianist playing music during business hours.

Von Maur is continuing to open new stores at a time when many locations are cutting back. The company announced that they would take over the former Nordstrom location in the Mall of Georgia, as well as open a second store in the Minneapolis-St.Paul area in the fall of 2016.

Bi-Mart Corporate Office

Bi-Mart was founded in Yakima, Washington, in 1955. The company is an employee owned chain of department stores across the north west U.S. Bi-Mart has changed hands several times over the years with Pay ‘N Save buying the company in 1976, Thrifty Corporation in 1984, PayLess Drugs in 1990, and Rite Aid in 1996. Endeavour Capital purchased the company in 1997 and sold it to employees in 2004 for $94 million.

Bi-Mart stores are quite diversified in their product line. A typical store offers a pharmacy, power tools, sporting goods, canned and packaged foods, clothing, shoes, housewares, small appliances, and personal care products.

Today, the company has 75 locations in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Like Costco and Sams, Bi-Mart is a membership store, however, unlike the former, Bi-Mart membership fees are a mere $5 per family and there are no annual renewal fees.

Halls Corporate Office

Halls is the store division of Hallmark Cards. The Halls and Hallmark line was founded in 1916 by Joyce Hall in Kansas City, Missouri. Hall originally sold greeting cards from a display case in the lobby of a Kansas City store. The company soon moved to their own store and slowly began adding other merchandise to their line in addition to the very popular greeting cards.

Building a new store in the Crown Center began in 1973. Crown Center replaced the original downtown Halls store. Halls stores feature a wide variety of clothing, jewelry, wedding items, shoes, children and infants clothing, as well as china and crystal glassware.

In 2013, Halls consolidated their two stores into the new Crown Center. The new Crown Center officially opened September of 2014. Halls employs 10,500 full time employees and almost 20,000 part time employees. The company had annual revenue in 2015 of $3.7 billion.

Guthy-Renker Corporate Office

Guthy-Renker was founded in 1988 by Bill Guthy and Greg Renker. The company is a direct response marketing company which sells products to consumers via television ads, direct mail, informercials, email campaigns, telemarketing, and internet ads.

Guthy-Renker began with a single product, Proactiv, which is an acne treatment program. As of 2014, the company has 8 different product groups, most of which are celebrity endorsed beauty treatments. Proactiv accounts for half of the company’s annual revenue. In 2013, that revenue was $1.8 billion.
