Today, Sunset Foods has 5 locations in the greater Highland Park, Illinois, area and more than 1,000 employees.

Third generation John E. Cortesi took over as President and CEO in 2006.

Sunset Foods prides itself on obtaining fresh, organic food from local farmers. The company also provides “community rooms” for organizations to use at no charge.

In 2014, Sunset Foods contracted with Instacart for home delivery service.

This Santa Monica, California-based startup was founded in September 2011 by Trevor Bezdek and former Facebook executives Doug Hirsch and Scott Marlette.

GoodRx is an American telemedicine website and prescription drug tracking app that helps people find the cheapest price on prescription drugs.

The website receives about 14 million visitors each month and by February 2020, millions have downloaded the GoodRX app.

History

 In September 2019, GoodRx acquired the telemedicine company HeyDoctor and rebranded the telemedicine platform as GoodRX Care. The platform allows individuals to consult with a doctor online and obtain a prescription for certain types of medications at a cost of $20 as of December 2019, regardless of insurance status. Medical testing services, which vary in price, are also offered through the platform.

In February 2020, Consumer Reports stated that GoodRx shared user data information, such as the name of the drug that was being searched, with companies such as Facebook and Google.

A few days later, GoodRx says that they have stopped sharing this information with Facebook.

Books Are Magic Corporate Office

Books are Magic

Founded by husband and wife team Michael Fusco-Straub and Emma Straub in 2017, Books are Magic is the couple’s third bookstore.

The company specializes in out-of-print or hard-to-find titles, but a wide range of popular novels and non-fiction books are also available.

New author Casey McQuiston has revealed both of her novels at the Brooklyn-based Books are Magic bookstore.

History

Co-founder and owner Emma Straub says it was a struggle to keep bookstores open and profitable before Covid but found that operating an online bookstore was actually easier than she imagined it would be.

And while New York is lifting the mask mandate in many areas, Books are Magic says that they will still enforce the use of face masks for now.

The company is best known for three projects:  Palantir Gotham, Palantir Metropolis, and Palantir Foundry.

College roommates David Spratte and Kasper Kubica didn’t have much in common, but they discovered that they both suffered from hyperhidrosis, a condition that causes excessive sweating, usually on the hands and feet but it can occur anywhere on the body.

After working with another student to develop a solution, Carpe was founded in 2014. Carpe lotion hit shelves in 8,000 drugstores across the U.S. in 2015. The company completed a $2.3 million financing in April 2018.

Carpe sells lotion and a deodorant that is designed to prevent excessive sweating.

History

Carpe has been such as success that both Spratte and Kubica stopped looking for work after they completed college. Both work full-time for the company they created.

Carpe is often listed first on review sites as the best clinical strength deodorant.
