Carhartt was founded back in 1889 when Hamilton Carhartt began making sturdy work clothes for those in manual labor jobs. The company began with 5 employees and two sewing machines.

Carhartt was soon making bib overalls for railroad workers. He would visit them on the job site to ensure that the clothing he made was suitable for the job.

Today, Carhartt is best known for its full-cut, wind-resistant, snag-proof, heavy-duty work jackets, which are popular with construction workers, miners, farmers, hunters, and outdoors people.

History

Carhartt has also successfully expanded its appeal to general streetwear. Most jacket designs are plain and manufactured in muted colors such as mustard, khaki, and navy blue. They are usually waist-length or three-quarter length. Most are made from relatively stiff 12-ounce cotton canvas with triple-stitched seams.

Carhartt is still a privately held, family-owned company, owned by the descendants of founder Hamilton Carhartt.

Carhartt products are sold by a variety of retailers, but the company refuses to have their items sold in discount stores such as Walmart.

The company has a flagship store located in Detroit, Michigan.

Carhartt clothing is also popular with politicians trying to connect with blue-collar voters. Sarah Palin, Rick Perry, and Barack Obama have all been seen prominently wearing Carhartt clothing or jackets.

In January 2022, the company was criticized by conservative news media for its COVID-19 mandate for employees.

The company defended its stance and faces a possible boycott.

CNet

In 1994, with the help of Fox Network co-founder Kevin Wendle and former Disney creative associate Dan Baker,CNET produced four pilot television programs about computers, technology, and the Internet.

CNet, which is short for Computer Network, publishes reviews regarding computers, cell phones, and other types of technology equipment, in addition to news, blogs, and podcasts.

The company originally produced content for radio and television in addition to its website and now uses new media distribution methods through its internet television network, CNet Video, and its podcast and blog networks.

History

CNet also publishes region-specific and language-specific additions, including Chinese, Spanish, Korean, French, and German.

In September 2020, Red Ventures acquired CNet for $500 million.

The website has thousands of programs or apps that can be downloaded for free. While CNet claims that all programs are free from viruses or malware, this isn’t always true.

HealthWell is a non-profit organization designed to help with financial assistance to cover certain medications and therapies.

While many people have health insurance, sometimes the monetary limitations or limits on certain medications make it impossible for even the fully insured to get complete medical coverage.

Patients with chronic or life-altering diseases often need help with their prescription drug copayments, health insurance premiums, deductibles and coinsurance, and other out-of-pocket costs.

History

The company states that they have helped more than 320,000 patients with their medical needs.

In October 2021, HealthWell launched a fund to help those with Neurocognitive Disease with Psychosis.

In December 2021, the company reopened the Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) fund.

Churchill Downs Incorporated began with the opening of one legendary racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1875. While traveling in England and France in 1872–1873, 26-year-old Meriwether Lewis Clark devised the idea of a Louisville Jockey Club for conducting race meets. Clark toured and visited with a number of notable racing leaders, including England’s Admiral Rous and France’s Vicomte Darn, vice president of the French Jockey Club.

Upon his return from Europe, Clark began the development of his racetrack, which would serve to showcase the Kentucky breeding industry. The track would eventually become known as Churchill Downs.

In 1996, Churchill Downs took their betting site online, calling it TwinSpires.

History

Twinspires’ cell phone app not only allows players to bet on horseraces but also on other sporting events in 7 states, such as football and basketball.

The parent company of TwinSpires also owns several casinos, including the Lady Luck Nemacolin in Pennsylvania, and the Presque Isle Downs. Casino-type games can also be played on the apps or online via the website.

In early December 2021, Churchill Downs stated that they were considering selling TwinSpires and buyers came out of the woodwork to let the company know that there were interested parties.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic of 2020/2021, sports booking companies such as TwinSpires saw record revenue.

Ben Smith was looking for men’s skin care products when he realized that there weren’t any. Other than shaving lotion, there were no other skin products made just for the needs of men.

Named after that famous 70’s music era, Let’s Disco, often referred to simply as Disco, was founded in 2012.

“Disco will normalize self-care for men by offering easy-to-understand products and a straightforward membership program that allows guys to put their bathrooms on auto-pilot. It is our goal to provide a line of clean products you can count on, while also having fun along the way.”

The full Disco product suite will initially include: Face mask and scrub, eye stick, face cleanser stick, and moisturizer, body wash, and deodorant. After polling men regarding their wants and needs, this was what most men stated they would be interested in buying.

Clients can purchase individual products, or sign up for a membership to have one of three product boxes delivered monthly. Each product includes instructions on not only how to use it, but what the entire skincare product line includes and where the individual product falls within the skincare routine.

All products are vegan and are free from aluminum, gluten, parabens, or sulfates. The packaging is all recycled materials. Even with all that, prices are very reasonable.

In August 2021, the online magazine Financial Times stated that Disco was one of the top up-and-coming brands in men’s skincare products.
