Regal Beloit Corporation was founded in 1955 as Beloit Tool Corporation in Beloit, Wisconsin. The company originally manufactured metal cutting tools and gear boxes.

The company changed its name to Regal Beloit  in 1969 and today is simply known as Regal.

After a series of acquisitions Regal has a  product line including electric motors, power generation products, and mechanical motion control products, generators for prime and standby power, and AC and DC electric motors, which are used in air conditioning and heating.

The company also has a mechanical group which manufactures auto and marine transmissions, gear reducers, and gar drives used in street pavers, waste treatment facilities, and conveyors.
