Founded in 1943, The Hair Design School is part of the Empire Beauty School group. The company has more than 100 campus locations in the U.S. and is the largest cosmetology school in North America. The company trains students to work as cosmetologists, hair dressers, make up artists, manicurists, and nail technicians.

Empire purchased Regis Corporation in 2007 and opened its 100th campus in Springfield, Pennsylvania, in 2010. Empire Group hosts the world’s largest hair and nail competition in the U.S. Winners spend time with top professionals in locations around the world such as Spain and Hawaii.

The Hair Design School and other Empire Beauty school locations recently began eco-friendly training and service in a few states, including Florida, North Carolina, and New Jersey.

Wienerschnitzel

Wienerschnitzel was founded in 1961 by John Galardi in Pasadena, California. While attending college, Galardi was working part time at a taco stand. The business was not doing well and when the owner was unable to repay a loan that Galardi had made to him, he offered to sell him the restaurant for $12,000. A family friend came up with the original name of Der Wienerschnitzel. The name was later abbreviated to Wienerschnitzel in 1977.

History

The company offers a wide range of hot dogs, chili dogs, and corn dogs, as well as French fries and drinks, mainly as drive through service. Franchise of the business is also available.

Today, Wienerschnitzel is owned by the Galardi Group and has more than 350 locations. The company claims to sell more than 120 million hot dogs each year and has plans to expand with new locations in 2016.

In May 2020, the company announced that it was offering International Cuisine with three hot dogs inspired by other countries including the Cuban Dog.

In late May 2020, the restaurant chain signed a deal to open 20 restaurants in the state of Louisiana.

In April 2023, Wienerschnitzel announced that it would offer Mac N Cheese, as well as chili Mac N Cheese.

Sizzler

Sizzler was founded in 1958 by Del and Helen Johnson in Culver City, California. The original name was Del’s Sizzler Family Steak House. The Johnson’s wanted to offer a full-scale restaurant type of experience, but with very low prices. To cut costs, many locations had their own butchers who cut steaks from sides of beef and ground their own hamburger meat.

After recovering from bankruptcy in 1996, the restaurant chain was down to 70 locations, down from its high of 210. The restaurant offers mainly steak, seafood, hamburgers, and salad bars.

Sizzler was sold to Pacific Equity Partners in 2005. In 2011, USA Management Group, lead by the CEO of Sizzler, purchased the company back from Pacific Equity Partners. Sizzler has locations in 6 countries and these remain owned by Pacific Equity Partners. As of 2017, the company boasts 270 restaurants, an all time high.

Dollar Rent a Car was founded in 1965 in Los Angeles, California by Henry Caruso. The business was originally named Dollar A Day Rent a Car, but changed the name when price increases made renting a car for one dollar impossible.

The company provides car rentals, specialty vehicle rentals, and hire services for small to mid-sized businesses, the U.S. Government, and governmental associates. The company also offers franchises of its car rental service.

History

Besides vehicle rentals, the company also offers business and vacation travel planning, airline and hotel reservations, as well as online services, including reservations for rental vehicles.

In 2014, a woman filed a lawsuit against Dollar regarding what she called “obvious overcharges” in regards to rental insurance.

Due to the pandemic of 2020/2021, many companies sold a great deal of their inventory only to find that purchasing new cars was extremely difficult and expensive due to a lack of computer parts. This will mean that renting a car will be more difficult and expensive at least throuh 2022 and perhaps 2023.

The company has locations in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and other countries. Today, Dollar Rent a Car operates as a subsidiary of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc.

In-N-Out Burgers was founded in 1948 by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park, California. This restaurant was the first drive-through restaurant in California, taking orders over a speaker system. This was a unique idea at the time when most restaurants were drive-up and park, with bellhops taking customer orders.

History

The restaurant chain remains family owned, with the Snyder’s granddaughter being named CEO. In-N-Out Burgers has slowly expanded over the years. Today, the company has 358 locations in 7 states and Mexico. In-N-Out Burgers had $575 million in revenue in 2017.

In-N-Out Burgers is known for paying its employees more than minimum wage, as well as offering a wide variety of high quality and unusual burgers. One such burger is called Animal Style, which includes mustard grilled patties, extra pickles, and extra Thousand Island dressing.

In October 2021, the company temporarily shut down its New York locations after being warned by health officials that they needed to inspect vaccination cards before allowing patrons to dine indoors.

That same month, the company was forced to stop allowing diners to eat indoors in San Francisco, California, for the same reason listed above.

In April 2023, the company maintained its expansion plans and opened new locations in Tennessee.
