Co-workers Derek Brigham and Kyle Nakatsuji knew that they could create a better shopping experience for those seeking affordable car insurance using AI. ClearCover was born out of this idea.

With the average yearly cost of car insurance a whopping $1,100 and more than 13 percent of drivers simply going without due to the cost, it’s no wonder that ClearCover has become very popular.

The company doesn’t spend much on advertising, but word gets around. Currently, ClearCover can only find insurance companies in Arizona, California, Illinois, Ohio, and Utah, but it hopes to expand to all 50 states within 5 years.

History

In January 2020, the company raised $50 million in series C financing.

The leading roadside assistance program, HONK, is also used by ClearCover, since at least 2019.

Founded in Chicago, the company maintains its corporate office there as well.

Freshworks Corporate Office

Girish Mathrubootham had been working for Zoho and was developing an onsite helpdesk system when he read a news article that Zoho had raised prices as much as 40 percent and how unhappy customers were. One comment, in particular, struck home, and Mathrubootham decided to create his own corporation.

Freshworks is CRM software that is cloud-based. Generally much more inexpensive than in-house software, Freshworks is easier to integrate with all other platforms and products that the company offers.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, Freshworks has vowed to not lay off any employees, although it has put a freeze on hiring all but the most essential positions.

History

In March 2020, Zoho sued Freshworks, stating that the company was stealing customer data.

Freshworks acquired Seattle based start-up AnswerIQ in April 2020.

Freshworks maintains a corporate office in San Mateo, California.

Neighbor.com was founded in 2017 by three friends, Colton Gardner, Joseph Woodbury, and Preston Alder. Neighbor.com works similar to the way that Airbnb works: people who have extra space, whether it is a garage, an empty lot, attic, or basement, can rent it out to local people who need to store “stuff”.

Neighbor.com insures those with space for $2 million in case their property is somehow damaged by items that are stored or if someone should get hurt while moving the stuff onto their property. Property or homeowners also have the right to reject any client for nearly any reason and they have the right to inspect all boxes or other packages.

Renting through Neighbor.com generally costs half of what a regular storage unit would charge. On average, a typical 5X5 foot storage unit costs $50, but it is half that price on the company website.

History

Storing on private property is also safer, considering that one in every 5 storage units are broken into every year.

The company raised $10 million in January 2020, in addition to the $2.7 million in seed money raised in March 2018.

Neighbor.com operates in 48 states and the District of Columbia. Headquarters are located in American Fork, Utah.

Noyo is an API layer for the health insurance industry. Founded in 2017 with offices in both San Francisco, California and Durham, North Carolina, Noyo has raised $4 million to date.

Noyo was born out of founders Dennis Lee and Shannon Goggin’s frustrations with the technology solutions available to them at Zenefits, also an API platform that failed to address certain needs.

Customers pay on a volume basis, so smaller companies pay far less for the same program. In a nutshell, the platform powers a more modern health insurance system by creating digital standards for the secure exchange of data between insurers, brokers, and consumers. History

In March 2020, the company was rated “Best in Class” by users in the G2 2020 Spring Grid Report. This is the 9th consecutive year that Zoominfo has been rated at the top in nearly all categories.

Also in early March 2020, the company filed with the NASDAQ for an IPO listing. It is unknown at this time if the coronavirus crisis would delay this filing.

The company launched a mobile app for B2B data in January 2020.
