GoodRx Corporate Office

This Santa Monica, California-based startup was founded in September 2011 by Trevor Bezdek and former Facebook executives Doug Hirsch and Scott Marlette.

GoodRx is an American telemedicine website and prescription drug tracking app that helps people find the cheapest price on prescription drugs.

The website receives about 14 million visitors each month and by February 2020, millions have downloaded the GoodRX app.

 In September 2019, GoodRx acquired the telemedicine company HeyDoctor and rebranded the telemedicine platform as GoodRX Care. The platform allows individuals to consult with a doctor online and obtain a prescription for certain types of medications at a cost of $20 as of December 2019, regardless of insurance status. Medical testing services, which vary in price, are also offered through the platform.

In February 2020, Consumer Reports stated that GoodRx shared user data information, such as the name of the drug that was being searched, with companies such as Facebook and Google.

A few days later, GoodRx says that they have stopped sharing this information with Facebook.

Burton Reubens and a group of concerned individuals came together to fill a need for compassionate and rehabilitative care. This group of citizens founded HCF Management Inc. located in Lima, Ohio in 1968.

The company provides a wide variety of therapy care, skilled nursing, assisted living, and in-home health care. The company is owned and operated by the second generation of the Unverferth family.

HCF Management acquired EncompassCare in 2012 and Heritage Health Care in 2019. The company employs more than 4,000 persons and currently assists more than 3,000 patients with their health care needs.

HCF Management issued a statement in April 2020 that it was taking extra precautions in the face of the coronavirus epidemic. By July 2020, most nursing homes, including those operated by HCF, were resuming more normal operations, with some restrictions, such as face masks.

Ellen G. White, the founder of the 7th Day Adventist Church, gave her church in Battle Creek, Michigan, the task of building a hospital, called the Western Health Reform Institute.

In June 2020, the company purchased 22 acres in Tampa, Florida, to build another hospital and medical offices.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America was founded in 1991 by Richard Stephenson after his mother passed away from cancer in 1988. Stephenson purchased the American International Hospital in Zion, Illinois, and expanded the oncology center, renaming it the Mary Brown Stephenson Radiation Oncology Center.

The company opened a second hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1991. After purchasing the former Parkview Hospital in Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2004, the company completely remodeled the location, as well as expanded it, for its opening in 2005.

CTCA hospital frontA treatment center was opened in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2008 and in 2012, a facility was opened in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2015, it opened a patient concierge and information office in Mexico City. The company also advertises in the Middle East, the Caribbean and Latin America, offering patients in these regions the opportunity to pursue treatment at one of its U.S. comprehensive cancer care and research centers.

The company moved headquarters to Boca Raton, Florida, from Illinois in 2015.

CTCA was harshly criticized by oncologist David Gorsky for practicing “Woo” or pseudoscientific treatments, such as homeopathy. 

In late 2018, the non-profit group Truth in Advertising stated that the majority of cancer center ads are very misleading and deceptive. CTCA was one group that was named.

In July 2019, CTCA notified approximately 3,900 patients that there had been a data-breech and their personal information may have been stolen.
