Today, the company operates as a subsidiary of the Berkshire-Hathaway company. Currently, the company has 11 locations in Texas, mainly in the greater Houston area.

The company is the oldest furniture store in Texas. In addition to furniture, the company sells decorative items, rugs, mattresses, and curtains.

Star Furniture also offers customers design services and has two clearance locations in Houston. The company carries many well known brands of furniture, including Thomasville, Hooker, Natuzzi, and Kincaid.

While many other businesses are closing or experiencing hardships due to the coronavirus pandemic, Star Furniture and other furniture retailers are finding business is booming in 2020.

Toppers Pizza was founded in Champagne, Illinois, in 1991 by Scott Gittrich. The company operates a chain of franchised pizza restaurants. The original location was closed in the mid-1990’s, but reopened in Whitewater, Illinois. Gittrich originally worked for Dominoes Pizza before deciding to start his own business.

The company has approximately 70 locations in 13 mainly midwestern states. The company focuses on college campus areas and is known for being open until 3AM, to catch late night business. Toppers Pizza offers the usual pizzas, flavored breadsticks and chicken wings.

Toppers Pizza has doubled in size in the past 3 years, with 73% of its locations reporting record breaking sales in 2015. The company claims that there are more than 1 million pizza combinations that customers can create. The company has earned numerous awards, including one in 2015 from Franchise Business Review, which listed the company in their special report of the Top 50 Multi-Unit Franchises.

In January 2021, the company introduced vegan TopperStix to compliment the company’s other vegan menu items.

Today, 21st Century Insurance offers various types of insurance in the states of Hawaii and California. Headquarters are in Delaware. The company was acquired first by AIG, then by Farmer’s Insurance in 2009 and operates as a subsidiary.

In addition to auto insurance, 21st Century also provides insurance for mobile homes, flood, motorcycle and ATV, boaters, life, specialty homeowners, auto mechanical breakdown, antique auto, and personal watercraft insurance.

Since the chain was sold to the current owner and CEO Chuck Hammers, the theme has been changed to a retro-Hawaii style, with surfing videos, surfboards, old surfing photos on the walls, and beach-style music, such as hits from The Beach Boys.

The company sells pizzas, salads, breadsticks, and chicken wings with various sauces. Some locations offer vegan pizzas and/or gluten-free pizzas. Currently, the company says that it has no plans to offer franchises, but rather, intends to open a few new locations every year.

In 2023,  CEO Chuck Hammers attended President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address in Washington, D.C.
