Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast was founded in 1996 by current owner Martha McGinn, who inherited the house from her grandparents. The business operates a bed/breakfast/museum at the house where Lizzie Borden allegedly killed her parents in 1892.

The home features regular spiritual and psychic readings, ghost hunts, and allows people to rent the room where Borden supposedly killed her parents with an ax. Although Borden was acquitted, the house remains a point of intrigue. Borden’s father was a carpenter and many of the items he made are still in the home.

Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast has a small museum, a gift shop, and sells memorabilia, such as Lizzie Borden dolls. The house also offers a tour for those who do not wish to stay the night.

Blanc designed a drain/sewer cleaning machine that used a motor from a washing machine, a cable, and a child’s wagon to carry it on. He called his device the Roto-Rooter and he began to sell his machine to individuals for $250.

Today, Roto-Rooter is owned by Chemed Corporation, who purchased it from the Blanc family in 1980. Roto-Rooter remains one of the largest providers of plumbing repair, sewer and drain cleaning, as well as water cleanup in both the US and Canada. The company has more than 3,600 employees.

The company still has headquarters, and a manufacturing plant, in Des Moine, Iowa. The manufacturing plant makes plumbing and drain cleaning tools and equipment for both its employees and other plumbers in the industry, as well as a variety of drain cleaning liquids.

The park sees approximately 450,000 visitors each year, including numerous celebrities and politicians, such as former US president Jimmy Carter, Winston Churchill, and Steven Spielberg. The park offers bird and animal shows, while preserving the natural habitat that the island represents. Jungle Island is involved with numerous non-profit organizations, including The Everglades Foundation.
