BurgerFi traces its roots bacak to founder John Rosatti’s restaurant ” The Office” in Delray Beach, Florida, and its all-natural Angus “CEO Burger” that instantly became the restaurant’s top seller and most talked about item. Rosatti envisioned taking his award winning burger beyond Delray’s famed Atlantic Avenue and spreading its appeal across America. From this vision, the “BurgerFication of the Nation” began.

In mid-2018, the company released their chicken burger featuring free-range chicken breast meat. The company is best known for organic, antibiotic-free meats and recently earned an A rating from Consumer Reports and numerous other groups.

In addition to free-range, organic meats, BurgerFi focuses on eco-friendly and sustainable restaurant components like chairs made from upcycled Coke bottles, tables created from upcycled milk jugs, wood-panel walls designed from No. 2 Southern Pine Lumber, and counter tops made from 100 percent compressed recycled paper.

In October 2020, the company hired Julio Rodriguez as its new CEO.

Also in October 2020, BurgerFi introduced a new spicy chicken sandwich to the menu lineup.

Former Green Beret Evan Hafer founded Black Rifle Coffee Company in 2014. Hafer states that he has always had a deep love for a variety of coffee flavors and was probably the only soldier in Iraq who received shipments of different flavored coffee packages.

Once he completed his tour of duty, Hafer spoke with his friend Mat Best, former Army Ranger, about teaming up to make both coffee and a clothing line geared towards veterans.

The company sells Brazilian slow roasted coffees, mugs, stickers, shirts, and jackets. Hafer states that they hope to open 100 stores around the US via franchising in the next 5 years.

Hafer made news when he pledged to hire 10,000 veterans after Starbucks offered to hire 10,000 refugees. Black Rifle currently has 102 employees and a 50% veteran hiring rate.

The company says that it roasts more than 1 million pounds of coffee each year and has an annual revenue of $30 million after only 4 years in business.

Black Rifle Coffee is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, and announced in April 2018 that they were investing $6 million in a roasting facility in Manchester, Tennessee.

Visiting Angels was founded by Jeffrey Johnson & Lawrence Meigs in 1998 when this pair of businessmen realized that baby boomers would be in need of assistance and many wish to remain at home. Johnson had also been a social worker who visited nursing homes. He saw that many seniors forced into nursing homes only needed a bit of assistance in order to stay at home. The company offers home companion and in-home care services so seniors can stay in their homes.

The company operates as a franchise and assists seniors with chores, including light housekeeping, cooking, errands, grooming and dressing assistance and sometimes just some simple companionship. Entrepreneur listed Visting Angels as #74 on their list of the Top 500 Franchises in America.

In an interview in 2016, co-founder Larry Meigs stated that franchisors can make more than $1 million in revenue since the business has a profit margin of 30 to 40 %.

The Melting Pot Corporate Office

The Melting Pot restaurant was founded by brothers Robert, Mark, and Mike Johnston in Maitland, Florida, in 1975. Originally, the menu had only 3 items but it proved to be so popular that in 1979, the brothers allowed a franchise to open in Tallahassee, Florida.

As franchises grew, so did the menu, but one thing remains the same; fondue. The company is best known for its complete meal, which features a cheese fondue, a salad, the main course and a chocolate fondue for dessert. The four courses are offered individually or as a “4 Course Experience.”

The interiors are done in black and dark red with dim lights for a more private type of experience. While fondue remains to be the restaurants’ major attraction, the company recently opted to include meats which are grilled right at the table.

The company currently has 117 locations, including some in Mexico, with the most recent opening in El Paso, Texas, in September 2018.

In 1983, Martha Morris was operating a small used sporting goods store in Minneapolis, Minnesota, called Play It Again Sports. She was a client of a consulting firm run by Ron Olson and Jeffrey Dahlberg. When Morris told the pair that she wanted to make her company a franchise, they had their doubts, however, after a surprise visit to the store, Olson and Dahlberg found more than 10 people waiting in line before the store had even opened.

In 1988, Olson and Dahlberg acquired the store from Morris. Play It Again Sports was the first franchise operation for what would become the Winmark Corporation.

The company went public on the NASDAQ in 1993 and is now listed under the ticker symbol WINA. Winmark owns 5 franchised based companies, all of which sell used goods including Music Go Round, Play It Again Sports, Once Upon a Child, Style Encore, and Plato’s Closet. The company also owns Wirth Business Credit, a small business supply leasing company.
