After several years of bad rentals, problems finding rentals, and even a bait and switch scheme by brokers, Kobs and Erickson came up with a website and mobile phone app that is meant to cut down on the length of time it takes to find an apartment to rent.

Merrell was already making very expensive hiking boots, and with Matis and Schweizer’s help, they designed a high-quality boot that was more affordable.

Merrell Shoes acts as a subsidiary of Wolverine World Wide, who purchased the company in 1997. In 2010, the company had annual revenue of more than $500 million. In 2018, Merrell president Sue Rechner said in an interview that she was concerned about Trump’s lack of balance when it came to decision making.

The company recently raised $175 million to invest in growth plans. The app has proven to be wildly successful, with 45 million downloads in the first 6 months of 2017, and annual transaction volume of $23 billion in the same time frame.

Apps like Letgo and OfferUp are direct competition to the cash positive Craigslist.
