BucketFeet Corporate Office

BucketFeet was founded in 2011 in Chicago, Illinois, by current owners Raaja Nemani and Aaron Firestein. The pair met in Argentina and Firestein gave Nemani a pair of shoes he had drawn on himself as a farewell gift. The shoes received so many inquires and compliments, that Nemani contacted Firestein in the US and the pair started their own shoe business.

The company operates a shoe design, eCommerce site and sells their shoes in selected stores, as well as their own brick and mortar store in Chicago and NewYork. Customers can design their own shoes, or choose from designs offered by others. The company states it has more than 12,000 designs from people in more than 100 countries.

BucketFeet has plans for expansion into international markets, with 3 stores planned for Asia, London, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam, by the end of 2017. Pop up stores in other cities are also very likely.

Christian Book Distributors was founded in 1978 by brothers, Ray and Stephen Hendrickson. The brothers were still teenagers when they began selling academic books out of their parents home to pastors and bible school study programs.

By 1981, business was booming and the company moved their headquarters out of the family garage and into a brick and mortar store in Peabody, Massachusetts. In the late 1980’s, the company had 90 employees and expanded their store to 52,000 square feet. Internet sales began in 1996, which forced the staff to be increased to 320 employees.

Today, Christian Book Distributors has more than 500 employees. In 2008, the company made a partnership with Focus on the Family to handle their e-Commerce site, as well as to increase distribution. The Boston Globe placed Christian Book Distributors as #22 on their list of Top 100 Places to work in Massachusetts.

Currently, the company has approximately 800 mostly franchised locations in 18 states, which offer chicken, salads, and sandwiches. The company offers a variety of sauces to accompany their chicken, including names like Zax sauce, Nuclear, and Insane sauce. Most locations are decorated with amusing signs from the region. Z 4

In December of 2013, the company announced that Zaxby’s would begin to offer the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine at most of their locations, the decor in the fountain drink dispensing area has been dominated by that distinctive dispenser, along with other Coke brands.

Today, company headquarters are found in Athens, Georgia.

Holiday Inn was founded in 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee, by Kemmons Wilson, after a trip to Washington, D.C., resulted in numerous disappointments regarding hotels he encountered on the road.  Wilson became partners with friend Wallace Johnson and the pair decided to build hotels all around the Memphis area. The original corporate office was in a converted shed behind Johnson’s home.

The company grew to become one of the largest and most recognized names in American hotels. Today, a subsidiary of Intercontinental Hotels Group, the company has more than 2.650 hotels across the US.  Most locations are owned by franchises and are known under numerous, but similar, names, such as Holiday Inn Hotels and Suites, Holiday Inn SunSpree Resorts, and Holiday Inn Express.

The company announced in 2008 that it would launch a timeshare program called Holiday Inn Club Vacations.

Due to the coronavirus crisis of 2020, many hotels are being forced to close or be sold, especially in the San Antonio, Texas area. 

In April 2022, a Holiday Inn spokesperson said that the company had no plans to resume investing in Russia after the Ukraine/Russian war that began in March 2022. 

Headquarters for the US hotels are found in Atlanta, Georgia.

Carvel was founded in 1929 by Tom Carvel, who borrowed $15 from his future wife to overhaul and operate an ice cream truck in New York. When the truck broke down a few years later, Carvel was forced to sell his product by the roadside. After selling out in two days, Carvel realized that a store at that location would be a smart business move.

Today, Carvel is owned by Focus Brands and has more than 1,000 employees. The company operates approximately 400 franchised ice cream shops across the US, as well as offering its products in more than 9,500 supermarkets and corner stores. Carvel has partnered with other leading brands to create unique ice cream desserts, such as M&M and cookie makers.

The company offers hard-packed ice creams, frozen desserts, soft-serve ice cream, as well as shakes and ice cream cakes. The original store in Hartford, New York,  stood until 2008 when it was demolished to build a Japanese restaurant.

Carvel maintains a corporate office in Atlanta, Georgia.
