Viceroy Hotel Corporate Office

The Viceroy Hotel and Resort was founded in 1965 in Santa Monica, California. Starting off with a single hotel, the company now boasts 6 locations in the United States, 3 in Latin America and the Caribbean, and 2 in Europe and Asia.

Current CEO Bill Walshe says that despite the pandemic of 2020/2022, the company has continued to grow by focusing on what they can do, rather than what they cannot do.

In January 2023, Viceroy Hotels was acquired by Highgate, a hospitality company, for an undisclosed amount. The merger should be completed by the end of the year.

In November 2020, Viceroy Hotels opened a woman-centric hotel in Washington, D.C., called Hotel Zena.

Arlo Hotels Corporate Office

Arlo Hotels opened its first two hotels in 2016 in New York City. The company continues to open new locations, often by remodeling abandoned buildings or those in bankruptcy proceedings.

Currently, Arlo has 6 hotels and plans to open several more over the next 5 years.

Arlo Hotels has focused more on luxury than size but that will change with the opening of the former Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn.

In February 2023, Arlo Hotels partnered with ArtRepublic to launch immersive art programs.

In April 2023, Arlo opened a new hotel in Chicago, Illinois. This 218-room hotel is close to Millenium Park. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for the violence in Chicago to affect the Arlo.

Hampton Inn offers mid-ranged priced hotel rooms with limited food and beverage service. Most of the locations are franchised and is one of the largest hotel franchises in the world.

At the end of 2019, Hampton Inn had more than 2,544 locations in 30 countries and more than 266,000 rooms.

In October 2014, the Hampton by Hilton brand launched in China through a licensing agreement with Plateno Hotels Group. The first of 400 Chinese Hampton hotels opened in 2015.

A similar agreement with the Wasl Asset Management group will bring Hampton by Hilton to Dubai.

Many locations are now being managed by HP Hotels, a hotel management service company.

The Hampton Inn in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, reopened on December 7th, 2022, after being closed for repairs due to hurricane Ian.

The company went public on the NASDAQ in 2013 under the ticker symbol STAY but was removed in 2021 after being acquired by Blackstone Real Estate and the Starwood Capital Group.

Extended Stay America is one of the top long-term hotel companies in the US, with more than 85,000 rooms.

Despite the coronavirus, the chain continues to expand, announcing in November 2022 that a new premier Extended Stay hotel was being built in Duncan, South Carolina.

In September 2022, the company announced that it would partner with The American Cancer Society and offer free rooms or reduced rates in all locations for those receiving cancer treatment and living more than 40 miles from a treatment center.

Sonesta International Hotels got its start when real estate mogul A.M. “Sonny” Sonnabend convinced 6 other investors to purchase the Preston Beach Hotel in Massachusetts. By 1944, the company owned 5 hotels, including the Biltmore and the Palm Beach Country Club in Florida.
