The company operates through a mobile phone app or their online service. There is stiff competition among delivery companies, so Eat24 relies on Yelp feedback and reviews, a cash back program for future orders, as well as a VIP club, which also offers discounts and coupons. Unlike some companies, who tack on a service fee for delivery, this service is free, with the participating restaurant picking up the delivery fee.

TaskRabbit, originally founded as RunMyErrand, was founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 2008. The company operates an online general task service, where customers with a need are matched with persons who can fulfil the job. These tasks are quite varied and can include everything from furniture assembly to handyman services, grocery shopping to dog walking.

The company decided to change names and move headquarters across the country to San Francisco, California in 2010. An app for iPhone was introduced in 2011 and in 2013, the company launched a new tool called “TaskRabbit for Business” whereby businesses could hire temporary workers from the TaskRabbit pool.

This company is similar to other recent delivery service companies aimed at offering delivery from restaurants that do not provide it themselves. Originally founded in Palo Alto, the company recently moved into larger headquarters in San Francisco in late 2015.

DoorDash has been rumored to have raised hundreds of millions, possibly as much as 1 billion, from businesses such as Sequoia Capital and SV Angel. Originally offering service to only the greater San Francisco area, in less than 3 years time this company has already expanded to Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston.
