Tax Tiger was founded in 2008 in Sacramento, California, by current CEO Kathleen Hill. After working for another tax service for many years, Hill and her husband decided to create their own company to offer assistance to those with difficulties with the IRS.

The company operates a franchise tax preparation, planning, and assistance offices, as well as an eCommerce site, to deal with US federal income tax problems. The company is a member of numerous prestigious and trusted associations, including the American Society of IRS Problem Solvers, American Society of Tax Problem Solvers, as well as maintaining an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau for many years.

Tax Tigers is compensated using a flat fee service and is licensed to work in all 50 states.

Seamless was founded in 1999 by Jason Finger and Paul Appelbaum. The company operates a food delivery service. Originally named SeamlessWeb,  the company changed its name to Seamless in 2011.

The company began by offering other businesses food delivery and catering services. In 2005, the company began offering its services to individuals. Seamless offers service in every large city in America, with more than 12,000 restaurants and serving more than 2 million customers in the US and UK.

In 2013, Seamless and GrubHub merged their companies. The resulting merge resulted in offering clients more than 25,000 restaurants to choose from, as well as giving the company an astounding 130,000 orders, on average, each day.

Kayak was founded in 2004 by Steve Hafner and  Paul English. Hafner had co-founded Orbitz in 1999. The company operates a metasearch engine for hotel rentals, vacation rentals, air fares, and car rentals.

Today, the company operates as a subsidiary of Priceline, after being acquired in 2013 for $2.1 billion. Both the website and mobile app operate in 18 different languages and 30 different markets, including the US, France, Germany, Russia, and Singapore.

The company has won numerous awards, including Best App for Business Travelers in 2013 by Travel and Leisure, as well as making the top 10 list of Budget Airfare Tools Every Traveler Should Know in 2012 by Mashable.

Kayak noted that, as the coronavirus began to emerge in January 2020, US destinations and Mexico were among the most requested vacation sites.

Due to the coronavirus, Kayak was forced to lay off 400 employees in May 2020.

Kayak maintains a corporate office in Stamford, Connecticut.

Florists’ Transworld Delivery, known to everyone as FTD, was founded in 1910 by John Valentine and 12 other florists. This cooperative of florists agreed to deliver flowers to each other’s customers, thereby increasing sales. The company began by offering its services internationally in 1965.

The company was acquired by Perry Capital Corporation, which privatized the co-op in 1994. The Mercury Network, which is the electronic program used by the company, processes approximately 15 million orders each year in 154 countries, using more than 50,000 FTD affiliates.

Holiday Inn was founded in 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee, by Kemmons Wilson, after a trip to Washington, D.C., resulted in numerous disappointments regarding hotels he encountered on the road.  Wilson became partners with friend Wallace Johnson and the pair decided to build hotels all around the Memphis area. The original corporate office was in a converted shed behind Johnson’s home.

The company grew to become one of the largest and most recognized names in American hotels. Today, a subsidiary of Intercontinental Hotels Group, the company has more than 2.650 hotels across the US.  Most locations are owned by franchises and are known under numerous, but similar, names, such as Holiday Inn Hotels and Suites, Holiday Inn SunSpree Resorts, and Holiday Inn Express.

The company announced in 2008 that it would launch a timeshare program called Holiday Inn Club Vacations.

Due to the coronavirus crisis of 2020, many hotels are being forced to close or be sold, especially in the San Antonio, Texas area. 

In April 2022, a Holiday Inn spokesperson said that the company had no plans to resume investing in Russia after the Ukraine/Russian war that began in March 2022. 

Headquarters for the US hotels are found in Atlanta, Georgia.
