The pair decided to become partners in 1983. The company operates a chain of pizza and subway style sandwich restaurants. The company began franchise operations in 1982. From this single location, the company today has more than 575 locations in 21 states.

Hearns passed away in 2013. Steve Jackson is now CEO of the chain.

Hungry Howie’s continues to open restaurants in 2020 when many others are closing.

Loehmann’s Corporate Office

Lohemann’s was founded in 1921 in Brooklyn, New York, by Frieda Lohemann and her son, Charles. Lohemann began by buying overstock from name brand companies in New York ,then reselling them at her store. Charles wanted to open a second location, but Frieda did not. She moved into the top floor of the business and Charles opened a second location in the Bronx. After his mother’s death, Charles closed her original store.

The company has been sold several times at, at its peak, had 100 stores in 17 states. However, the company has struggled over the years, filing for bankruptcy numerous times; first in 1999, then again in 2010, then for the last time in 2013.

Lohemann’s closed its last brick and mortar store February of 2014, however, the company is not out of business. Lohemann’s has found new life as an eCommerce site, continuing to sell clothing, handbags, jewelry, and shoes at discount prices.
