Minted was founded in 2007 by current CEO Mariam Naficy in San Francisco, California. After touring numerous countries, Naficy wanted to bring the art of the world and use it in unique ways that did not involve retail. Minted operates an online marketplace of independent artists and designers who sell their products on the website.

The company began by offering stationery and invitations, but by 2012 was offering wall prints, party decor, and pillowcases. More than $90 million has been raised via Crowd Sourcing for expansion of the company, which operates in 60 countries and all 50 states.  In 2008, the company began a program called “Design Challenge”, where artists submit their work for a particular project, participants vote, and the winner’s products are sold online.

Minted opened its first pop-up store in San Francisco in the summer of 2016. Headquarters remain in San Francisco, California. Currently, Minted has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Mr. C Food Stores was founded in Mineral Wells, Texas. The company is owned by Connel Oil.

There are currently 7 Mr. C Food Stores in the state of Texas. These convenience stores offer ready to eat food, drinks, and prepackaged food and beverages. Each location has an attached fueling station offering Chevron gas. Some locations have a USA Laserwash on the same property, which is also owned by Connel Oil. It is estimated that the company has an annual revenue of $2 million and employs 50 persons.

The gas storage tanks at Mr. C Food Store #5 was recently cited and fined almost $10,000 for failure to monitor the tanks for leakage. Company headquarters remain at the Bank of America Building in Mineral Wells, Texas.

Arnette Eyewear was founded by Greg Arnette in 1992 in San Clemente, California. Arnette began by selling sunglasses out of the truck of a rental car at the beaches in Southern California. Arnette sold the business to Bausch and Lomb in 1996 for $100 million, but stayed on as CEO.

Today, Arnette Eyewear is a subsidiary of Luxottica, who is the largest maker and seller of sunglasses in the world. Greg Arnette stepped down in 2000 when Luxottica acquired the company. Arnette sunglasses and goggles are best known for use by professional skateboarders, surfers, and skiing enthusiasts.

Most of the original employees of Arnette left the company soon after Luxottica took over, many of them, including former COO Bruce Beach, said that Luxottica appeared to have no interest in learning about their customers and that they were taking the company in a different direction.

After Columbine, Curran wanted to somehow protect his children at school. He began by cutting up bullet proof vests and fitting them into his children’s backpacks. Soon he was making these backpacks for family members and friends. Today, Bullet Blocker makes a vareity of products, all designed to help people and children feel more safe when away from home.

The company makes briefcases, backpacks, carry on bags, vests, purses, jackets, compression vests, as well as a wide variety of clothing. Company headquarters are currently located in Lowell, Massachusetts. Bullet Blocker began with just Curran, but today employs approximately 10 persons. In 2015, the company expanded to a new 7,000 square foot facility to meet increasing demand.
