Chicken Express Corporate Office

Chicken Express was founded by Richard and Nancy Stuart in Benbrook, Texas, in 1988. The company was one of the first fast food restaurants to offer delivery service in Texas. Franchising began in 1990.

Today, the company has more than 200 mostly franchised locations throughout the Southwestern part of the US. The company is best known for their iced tea, which they sell, literally, by the gallon. Other food items include catfish, fried chicken tenders, and a variety of side dishes.

In 2014, the company opened a new distribution center/cold storage warehouse in Burleson, Texas. 

Chicken Express had an estimated annual revenue in 2016 of $2.5 million and employs approximately 50 persons at each location. Company headquarters are now located in Burleson, Texas.

Gallery Furniture was founded by current CEO and owner Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale in Houston, Texas, in 1982. McIngvale started the company with a pickup truck for delivery and $5,000 cash.

Although the company did well initially, but the oil industry in Texas took a turn for the worse. McIngvale took his last $10K and invested it into advertising (doing the voice over himself) on two television stations. Although he wasn’t very pleased with the ad, it did well, turning business around.

Today, Gallery Furniture has 3 locations; two in Houston, Texas, and one in Richmond, Texas. The company was recently in the spotlight after Hurricane Harvey, which flooded most of Houston. McIngvale opened his stores to be used as shelters for those who were unable to stay in their homes.

During the intense cold and snowstorms of February 2020, owner Jim “Mack” McIngvale allowed people to use the furniture inside his stores and live there until the situation improved.

Neat Coffee was founded in Costa Mesa, California, by husband and wife team Ally and David Garvin. The company operates a coffee bar in Southern California.

After spending time in Uganda on a coffee plantation, the couple decided to open their own coffee shop. After working at several coffee bars to learn what works and what doesn’t, Ally opened her own small location.
