JemJem was founded in 2014 by current CEO Jay Kim. Originally operating only through Amazon, the company began by offering self-manufactured Android-based tablets. After trying out Apple iPhones and tablets, Kim decided to begin refurbishing iPads for resale.

The company is incorporated under the Interbond Corporation, and does business under the names of BrandsMart USA and BrandsMart. The original location is no longer used.
