TikTok Corporate Office

Zhang Yiming created ByteDance in September of 2016. Realizing that he needed to go globally to attract more clients, Yiming changed the name to TikTok and launched its international debut one year later.

Tiktok is a social media platform that was dewsigned for those interested in learning short, new dances, but has quickly become a major source of all types of interactions, from fashion consultants, political discources, and funny animal videos.

As of 2022, the cmopany states that the app has been downloaded more than 2 billion times.

According to data from app analytics group Sensor Tower, advertising on TikTok in the US grew by 11% in March 2023, with companies including Pepsi, DoorDash, Amazon, and Apple among the top spenders. According to estimates from research group Insider Intelligence, TikTok is projected to generate $14.15 billion in revenue in 2023, up from $9.89 billion in 2022.

TikTok has many “influencers” who create new dance steps or challenges. Some challenges are not safe, however, as this student discovered.

The US Federal Government has some concerns about this social media app, however, and most government offices do not allow the app on government cell phones.

TikTok keeps its main corporate office in China, but it does have one in the USA in Culver City, California.

Chess.Com Corporate Office

Chess.com can trace its roots back to 1995 when it was used to sell software that taught people how to play and win at chess.

Internet entrepreneur Erik Allebest and partner Jarom (“Jay”) Severson bought the domain name and assembled a team of software developers to redevelop the site as a chess portal.

Chess.com operates a freemium-style business model: main site features are free but others are limited or unavailable in some respects until a subscription is paid.

Visitors to the site can play on a live chess server and correspondence-style games, called “daily chess” on the site. Players may also play against chess engines, as well as participate in what the site calls “vote chess”, in which players form teams and vote on the best move.

Additional features include tactics training, puzzle rush, chess forums, articles, videos, lessons, chess news, downloads, opening databases, groups, live broadcasts, daily puzzles, team matches, online coaching, and a database of over 2 million games.

In late April 2022, Russia banned Chess.Com from its country after Chess.com posted an editorial supporting Ukraine.

Also in April 2022, the company announced that it would host a chess-themed NFT marketplace.

Chess.com maintains a corporate office in Palo Alto, California.

HootSuite Corporate Office

Hootsuite was founded in 2008 by Ryan Holmes. The company operates a social media management platform. As of 2021, the company has more than 16 million users in over 175 countries.

Holmes wanted a tool that would help him manage multiple social media networks at his digital services agency, Invoke Media.

After finding that there was no product in the market offering all the features he sought, Holmes, along with Dario Meli, David Tedman, and the Invoke team, chose instead to develop a platform of their own that would be able to organize their many social media accounts and networks.

In December 2009, Hootsuite spun off from Invoke Media and launched officially as an independent company, Hootsuite Media, Inc.

In February 2017, Hootsuite announced its acquisition of AdEspresso, a digital advertisement manager, and LiftMetrix, a leading social media analytics company.

In September 2020, Hootsuite came under widespread criticism over its agreement with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) , which was made just weeks after allegations of forced hysterectomies at ICE detention centers surfaced.

Following public pressure, the company stated that it had backed out of the deal, and posted a lengthy statement from CEO Tom Keiser to their official Twitter account that expressed regret over the internal divisions that the contract had created within the company.

Despite this public distancing from its earlier decision, over the next several weeks the company terminated numerous employees who had acted as whistleblowers in bringing the contract’s existence to light, sparking further public outrage and condemnation.

Hootsuite maintains a corporate office in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Classmates.Com Corporate Office

Classmates.Com was founded in 1995 by Randy Conrads, originally under the name Classmates Online.

The company helps clients find classmates from elementary school, Junior High, High School, colleges, the US military, and even some workplaces.

The company was acquired in 2015 by H.I.G. Capital, a private investment firm, for $30 million.

As of 2015, Classmates members used the website to plan over 350,000 class reunions. Over 5 million members were invited to a reunion that year.

Classmates.com had sent a significant number of emails that told recipients their old friends from school wished to reconnect with them and that, of course, the recipients would need to buy Classmates.com memberships to receive their old friends’ contact information.

A class-action lawsuit was brought against Classmates.com in 2008. The lead plaintiffs in the case were David Catapano and Anthony Michaels. The company agreed to pay $2.5 million to its users to settle the lawsuit.

As of 2015, the company stated that it had more than 70 million paying customers.

Classmates.Com maintains a corporate office in Seattle, Washington.
