Scout Alarm Corporate Office

Scout Alarm was founded in 2013 by current CEO Dan Roberts and his friend David Shapiro when they went to purchase a security system for a home and discovered that not only was the technology 20 years behind the times, but it was extremely expensive. This pair decided to create a security system that was affordable, yet relied on current technology.

The company started a crowdfunding campaign to create their proto-types, as well as offering pre-production discounts. Today, the company has sold more than 500,000 systems in less than 2 years. State of the art video cameras offer two way audio, night vision, 1080P, and offers live streams to smartphones, tablets, or computers.

Scout Alarm also offers video monitoring services, by persons who will notify the police if they view suspicious activity. One of the main differences between Scout Alarm and other security services is that other services offer 3rd party monitoring or self-monitoring, but not both.

Protection 1 Corporate Office

Protection 1 was founded in 1988 as an offshoot of the electric company Pacificorp. The company soon merged with Westar Energy and quickly became a popular security company.

The company operates home and business security services, including burglar alarms, video surveillance services, fire alarms, personal alarms, carbon monoxide, flood, and temperature alerts, as well as home automation services. The company has been sold several times over the years, and currently operates as a subsidiary of Prime Security Services Borrower, LLC.

In the early part of 2016, the company acquired one of the largest security service providers in the country, ADT Security Services for $42.00 per share, cash. Once the sale is complete, it is expected that all Protection 1 providers will be rebranded to the ADT name.

Ackerman Security Corporate Office

Ackerman Security was founded in 1967 by current CEO Bruce Turry, and has headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Turry was followed home one evening and was robbed, his house burglarized. Rather than wish the police could have done something, Turry decided to make his own alarm company to help prevent this from happening to others.

Today, Ackerman Security offers home and business burglary alarms, security systems, video monitoring, and web enabled devices which can be operated from any smart phone, tablet, or computer. The company has more than 47,000 homes and business clients across the US and has seen tremendous growth over the past decade.

The Imperial Capital Group has acquired Ackerman Security in the early part of 2015.

Monitronics Corporate Office

Monitronics was founded in 1994 by Jim Hull and has headquarters in the Dallas area of Texas. The company is the second largest security service provider in the US, serving more than 1 million customers. Monitronics is one of the industry leaders in smart home technology and serves not only the US but Canada and Puerto Rico as well.

The company recently moved its monitoring centers to one central location in Farmers Branch, Texas. Monitronics offers both cell phone monitoring and automation services, but landline services as well. In addition to home and commercial security services, the company also offers fire alarms, personal protection alarms, two-way voice communication services, and an interactive service option.

In 2013, the company acquired Security Networks, a conglomerate of approximately 225 dealers, for $507 million.

In 2016, the company changed their name to Moni Smart Security, along with their logo.

The company announced in late February 2018 that they had arranged an exclusive, long-term, trademark licensing agreement with The Brink’s Company.

Monitronics has received numerous awards for their services including being listed in SDM magazine as one of the Top 100 Security Companies continuously since 2002, and North American Frost & Sullivan listed Monitronics as their pick for Company of the Year in 2010.

Vector Security was founded in 1970, but actually has roots as far back as 1752, when it was part of Ben Franklin’s insurance company, the Philadelphia Contributionship. Over the years, there have been various acquisitions and spin offs, including Vector Security, which was once a division of Westinghouse Security.

Today, Vector Security offers home and business security systems to more than 300,000 customers. The company offers fire alarms, intrusion alarms, home and mobile automation, video survelliance, and assault notification.

The company has won numerous awards, including a SAMMY award for Best Installer in 2016, Central Station of the Year award from the Central Station Alarm Association in 2006, Police Dispatch Quality Award from the False Alarm Reduction Association in 2006, as well as Dealer of the Year Award from SDM in 2003 and again in 2015.
