Paul Mitchell Corporate Office

John Paul Mitchell Systems, known as Paul Mitchell, was founded by John Paul DeJoria and Paul Mitchell in 1980.

The new company was created to support the success of hairdressers and provide luxury hair care at an affordable price.

The brand’s signature white bottles with black lettering were originally designed because the company could not afford color ink.

Today John Paul Mitchell Systems is a privately-held company that sells 100 products in 100,000 salons in 80 countries worldwide. The company also operates cosmetology schools.

In early July 2020, students at the Las Vegas, Nevada, Paul Mitchell school demanded that the cirriculum include work on ethnic hair. Students have taken their concerns to their teachers stating “Black Hair Matters.”

Also in July 2020, the company claims that their company has lost at least 60 percent of their business due to the coronavirus and subsequent quarantine.

Paul Mitchell designs, manufactures, and markets products under the brands Paul Mitchell, Modern Elixirs, The Tea Tree Collection, Paul Mitchell LAB, and Paul Mitchell Professional Hair Color.
