The company grew steadily, with Yasinovsky being the sole employee until 2011 when Boris Shakhnovich joined the business.

The company is a digital document management solution that allows users to create, edit, manage, share, and securely store PDFs.

History

PDFFiller does spell checking, and acts like a Word document in that you change the font and even the text type, adding words in bold or italics. The program allows you to insert signature lines and creates links to send to other people.

PDFFiller is a cloud-based platform that offers 25 million fillable PDF forms and is a good tool for small to midsized businesses.

In October 2021, the company was rated as one of the best electronic signature platforms by the Fall 2021 Electronic Signature Software Customer Success Report.

Network Solutions started as a technology consulting company incorporated by Emmit McHenry, Ty Grigsby, Gary Desler, and Ed Peters in Washington, D.C, in 1979.

History

In April 2015, the Federal Trade Commission announced that Network Solutions had agreed to settle charges that it misled consumers who bought web hosting services by promising a full refund if they canceled within 30 days. In reality, the FTC stated, the company withheld substantial cancellation fees amounting to up to 30 percent of the refund.

StubHub was founded in 2000 in San Francisco, California. Founders Eric Baker and Jeff Fluhr were Stanford graduates who wondered why there wasn’t a marketplace to sell tickets you didn’t want.

StubHub is an American ticket exchange and resale company. It provides services for buyers and sellers of tickets for sports, concerts, theater, and other live entertainment events. It has grown from the largest secondary-market ticket marketplace in the United States into the world’s largest ticket marketplace.

In November 2019, Viagogo acquired StubHub for $4.05 billion.

While consumers are big on StubHub, the company has attracted considerable criticism from sports executives. Tim Leiweke, former CEO of AEG has stated that “many sports executives hate StubHub because the company doesn’t invest in the product on the court”

During the World Series games in 2021, some StubHub ticket holders were selling their standing-room-only tickets for $1,000.

In September 2021, StubHub was forced to refund more than $3 million in tickets sales to customers in Colorado after many venues closed due to Covid. The company originally declined to refund ticket holders but the attorney general reached a settlement with the company.

 Spokeo was founded in 2006 by four graduates from Stanford University—Mike Daly, Harrison Tang, Ray Chen, and Eric Liang. Originally, Spokeo was operated out of Tang’s basement.

The company operates a people search website that aggregates data from online and offline sources.

The site has evolved to become an information-gathering website that offers various options for finding information about people. It purports to know, among other things, one’s income, religion, spouse’s name, credit status, the number of people in the household, a satellite shot of the house, and its estimated value.

In 2012, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) fined Spokeo $800,000 for marketing information to human resource departments for employment screening without adhering to consumer protection provided by the Fair Credit Reporting Act—the first FTC fine involving personal data collected online and sold to potential employers.

The site not only tracks people, but businesses as well, noting a company’s gross margin, production, and annual revenue.

Uline was founded in 1980 by Liz and Richard “Dick” Uihlein. After inheriting money from the Schlitz beer fortune, the couple recognized the need for a local company that could provide shipping materials.

The company sells shipping and other warehouse and business supplies, such as paper, box loaders, shipping labels, box cutters, shipping tape, cardboard boxes, and other items.

In the 2000s, Uline began operations in Mexico and Canada and opened distribution centers in Texas, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Illinois. Over that same period, the Uline catalog grew to 450 pages, giving customers a look at over 17,000 products.

The 2020 Uline catalog is a full 795 pages and some people are so inspired by the contents that they consider going into business for themselves.
