The company also offers data center server and storage solutions, system design, built-to-order, configure-to-orde, hard-drive imaging, financing services, online and technical support services, and web-based marketing.

SYNNEX has operations in China, India, Japan, the Philippines, Costa Rica, Hungary, Mexico, Nicaragua, and the U.K.

SYNNEX trades publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol SNX, is a member of the S&P 600, is #294 in the Fortune 500, and had $12.27 billion in revenue in 2013.

Campbell Soup Company was founded in 1869 by Joseph A. Campbell and Abraham Anderson. The company originally produced canned jellies, vegetables, tomatoes, soups, condiments, and minced meats.

In 1897 John T. Dorrance, a chemist with a degree from MIT, developed a method of condensing soup that was commercially viable.

He became president of the company from 1914 to 1930. He eventually bought out the Campbell family.

History

By 1972 Campbell Soup Company had become one of the world’s largest food companies, with a brand portfolio including Pepperidge Farms, V8, Swanson, and Godiva.

Today the company has a 90-variety soup portfolio, as well as makes and markets meal kits, SpaghettiOs, Pace picante sauce, Bolthouse Farms organic baby foods and carrots, Pepperidge Farms baked goods, and V8 beverages.

Cablevision was founded in 1973 by Charles Dolan as Sterling Manhattan Cable. He launched HBO on this cable system soon after.

He later sold both HBO and the cable system to Time Life, Inc. He used the money from the sale to start a new cable system in Long Island called Cablevision.

History

In the 1980’s Cablevision expanded to Boston, Chicago, and Cleveland.

By the 1990’s the company had 2.9 million customers in 19 states.

Today Cablevision provides digital television, phone, and internet services in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and parts of Pennsylvania. Its operations also include newspaper publishing and cable television advertising, and movie theaters.

The company was founded in 1940 by Edwin Hewitt as Edwin Shields Hewitt and Associates.  The company originally was a brokerage house focusing on insurance and personal financial services.

In the 1970’s Hewitt developed and marketed its Benefit Index to track performance of benefit programs. This index was the first in the industry.

By the early 2000’s the company was operating in the United States, England, Ireland, and Malaysia and had 150 corporate clients and over $2 billion in revenue.

History

In 2010 Hewitt was acquired by Aon, a British multinational that provides risk management, insurance, reinsurance brokerage, human resource solutions, and outsourcing services through 500 offices in 120 countries.

Hewitt was then merged with Aon Consulting Worldwide to create Aon Hewitt and is now operated as a subsidiary of Aon plc.

Eastman Kodak was founded by George Eastman in 1888 and originally sold cameras and film, chemicals, and paper.

Up until 1976 Kodak held 90% of the market, until Japanese Fujifilm entered the American market and became Kodak’s rival.

Kodak developed the first digital camera in 1975 but it dropped the product because the company thought it would threaten its successful film business.

History

The company was slow to adopt digital technology when it began to gain popularity in the 1990’s and as a result began to face financial struggles which resulted in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in 2012.

Kodak announced in 2012 that it would cease manufacturing cameras and focus on the corporate digital imaging market.

Today Eastman Kodak Company trades publicly on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol KODK, is #562 in the Fortune 1000, has 8,800 employees, and had $2.24 billion in revenue in 2013.
