Dr. Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) was created in 2008 when it was spun off from Cadbury, plc which held the Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverage group.

Dr.  Pepper is the oldest soft drink in the United States and was invented in 1885. Snapple was invented in 1973 as a healthy apple soda.

History

Today DPS is the #3 soda business in North America (after Coca-Cola and Pepsi).

The company has a large number of brands in its beverage portfolio, including 7-Up, A&W Root Beer, Canada Dry, Clamato, Country Time lemonade, Dr. Pepper, Hawaiian Punch, Mott’s, Nantucket Nectars, Orangina, Schweppes, Snapple, Sunkist, and Yoohoo, among others.

Dr. Pepper Snapple Group is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol DPS, is a member of the S&P 500, is #430 in the Fortune 500, has 19,000 employees, and had $6.04 billion in revenue in 2013.

In June 2022, Forbes recommended Dr. Pepper/Snapple stock over a popular travel site stock, Booking.com.

Arthur Pitney founded Pitney Postal Machine Company in 1902, which manufactured his patented double-locking hand-cranked postage-stamping machine.

In 1908 Walter Bowes began providing stamp canceling machines to the U.S. Postal Service through his company Pitney Postal Machine Company.

The two companies merged in 1920 to form Pitney Bowes Postage Meter Company.

History

In 1922 and 1923 the U.S. Postal Service collected $4,359,070 in postage from the first commercial installations of 400 meters.

Today Pitney Bowes is the world’s largest producer of postage meters. The company also offers shipping and weighing systems, online postal services, and financing for office equipment purchases.
