Originally, the company began as a candle making shop, using the wax from Burt’s bee farm and Quimby, who made the candles and maintained the store. By the end of the first year, the company already cleared $200,000.

Today, Burt’s Bees largest earth-friendly personal care product makers in the US. The company was acquired by Clorox in 2007 for $925 million. Burt’s Bees products are sold in more than 30,000 retail locations, as well as their eCommerce site, and in more than 7 countries. The product line is vast, with more than 197 different products for lips, hair, skin, and hand balm. All products have a natural base and are made with a minimum of processing.

The company had annual revenue in 2006 of $250 million and has 420 full time employees.

Today, Lou Malnati’s Pizza has 56 locations, all within the greater Chicago area with the exception of one location in Phoenix, Arizona.

Although Lou Malnati passed away, his sons have taken over the business. Pizza ingredients are placed in the opposite order of most thin crust pizzas, with cheese on the bottom and sauce on top.

Lou Malnati’s Pizza is one of the best known pizza restaurants in the state of Illinois. In addition to the restaurants, the company owns a division called Lou Malnati Presents Tastes of Chicago, which in collaboration with Portillo Restaurants, ships frozen pizza nationwide.

In September 2020, the Daily Meal listed Lou Malnati’s Pizza on their list of Top 100 Best Pizza Restaurants.
