Thrive Farmers, sometimes called Thrive Farmers Coffee, was founded in 2010 by current CEO Michael Jones and co-founder Kenneth Lander. The company supplies farmer direct coffee beans to wholesalers, consumers, and specialty stores.

The company provides coffee farmers with direct access to processing and distribution logistics, as well as to the marketplace in general, so coffee farmers retain control of their crops up until sale, rather than relying on middle sales agents.

Thrive Farmers distributes coffee to consumers through online channels, roasters, coffee houses, restaurants, and retail grocers. The company seeks out sustainable coffee farmers who can enter into long term partnerships with companies around the globe, benefiting farmers.

Chuck-A-Rama was founded in 1966 by Don Moss and his two brother in laws in Salt Lake City, Utah. The company operates a small chain of buffet style, all you can eat restaurants. The original restaurant menu offered lunch for $1 and dinner for $1.50.

Today, the company has 20 restaurants, 10 in Utah and two in Idaho. The company offers typical American fare, but some food items are made from old family recipes, such as bread pudding and rolls. Almost all the food items are cooked fresh at each location from scratch. The company employs approximately 700 people full time.

Chuck-A-Rama is one of the few restaurants in the US to offer both Coca Cola and Pepsi products. For variety, each location offers a different type of food fare daily, such as Chinese Take Out Tuesday or Italian Feast Friday. The company is still owned and operated by the Moss family.

Samsonite was founded in 1910 by luggage salesman Jesse Shwayder, in Denver, Colorado. Shwayder decided he could build a better, stronger suitcase than most of the cardboard sided ones. A religious man, Shwayder called his first suitcase Samson, after the strong man in the bible. Later, the name was changed to Samsonite.

Today, most Samsonite cases and bags are made in India, although headquarters are in Mansfield, Massachusetts. The company is now owned by the investment firm CVC Capital Partners, who purchased the company in 2007 for $1.7 billion. Samsonite is perhaps one of the best-known names in the luggage industry.

Samsonite luggage, bags, and cases are sold under several names, including American Tourister, Hartmann, Samsonite Red, Gregory Mountain Products, and High Sierra.

Headquarters for the US are located in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

Harry’s Shoes was founded in 1931 in New York, New York. The company operates a small chain of shoe stores in the New York City area. Many consider the original store a landmark.

The company offers both American and European shoes styles for both men and women. In 2012, the company more than tripled the size of its original store by purchasing the building next door when Talbot’s closed their store. The original location now has 6,500 square feet of selling space.

Harry’s Shoes also opened a location for children only about a half a block from the original store. The company is still privately owned and operated by the Goldman family, who has been in charge for at least 3 generations.

Guittard Chocolate Company Corporate Office

Guittard Chocolate Company was founded in 1868 in the San Francisco area of California by French immigrant  Étienne Guittard. During the peak of the gold rush years, Guittard traded chocolates he had brought from France for supplies he needed for gold mining. After 3 years and no gold, Guittard decided to open his own shop, where he made chocolate candies and sold a variety of other items.

History

Today, the company is the only California-based operation that makes French chocolates from old-time recipes. It is still family-owned and operated. Guittard’s not only sells to consumers, but also wholesale to famous chocolate makers such as See’s, Baskin Robbins, and Kellogg’s.

In October 2023, the company announced that it would now offer dairy-free baking chips.

Guittard Chocolate Company has headquarters in Burlingame, California, and employs approximately 250 full-time employees.
